Barrel Care

I will have an empty barrel for a week or two, not long enough to clean and dry to burn a sulfur stick in it. Can you burn a stick in a wet barrel?

I would just fill it with sulfite water.

I wouldn’t do the sulfur stick. Safe thing would be to refill with sulfited, aciduated water.

I’ve left cleaned out barrels barrels “to dry” a few weeks before with no harm, but I’m sure it wasn’t without some risk.

Just put some acidulated wand sulfited water. You should be fine. Then give a good rinse before use.
