Average Yield on Petite Syrah?

I know there are a lot of variables at play, but how much wine can I expect to get from an average lug (36lbs) of Petite Syrah grapes? I will want to run this batch through my 6gal Vadai, so I need at least that much and would like to have some extra for topping off. My thinking is I'll need 3 lugs.

Jim, I think you are right on. I would figure about 2.5 gallons per lug.

I agree with Rocky. I figure 1 carboy for every two 36 pound lug.

Did it last year and found that 2.5 gallons per lug was about right. It was the best wine I've made to date.
