Anyone have any hacks or tricks to adding oak chips to a wood barrel I want to be able to add them but pull them out so maybe a mesh bag or something?

I tried a mesh bag, but the opening is tight enough that it didn't work.

I use cubes and when I add the cubes, they stay in the barrel until I rack it before bottling. After the wine is racked out, I have to rinse the barrel anyway, and the cubes come out with the water.

Spirals and staves are easier to use, but the price point is nearly 3 times what I pay for cubes.

If you're set on chips, you've described your delivery to the barrel. However, why chips? An adjunct like a spiral or winestix is more conventional, designed for long term barrel storage of wine and is easy to insert and extract.

Again, why chips?
Thanks where do you purchase winestix?
