I'm getting ready to bottle my Pinot Grigio so I thought I'd better check the sulfite level. Based on the pH, I need to be around 32 mg/L. Knowing I had my shiny, new, Vinmetrica SC-100 for verification, I decided to try the Accuvin SO2 test kit to see what level it gave me. Comparing the vial to the color chart, I read it as being at least 40 ppm (maybe more). A little high, but acceptable to me. I even had my wife give me her interpretation. She agreed.
I then set up the Vinmetrica SO2 tester and proceeded with the test. My result was a reading of 20 ppm. This result was 12 ppm lower than what I need to protect the wine.
The bottom line is that the Accuvin led me to believe that everything was okay, when, in actuality, it was not.

Funny, Ive always ende up with low readings. I loove having the Hanna unit now and knowing Im not getting any false readings.

I believe the probability for accuracy between the two would be .5
