Hello,

Another newbie question here. Can I make a 3 gallon batch of wine in a 6 gallon carboy, and 7.8 gallon first ferment bucket?

I know you should keep the headspace at a minimum, but is this acceptable or too much? Should I search for a 3 gallon carboy instead of using what I have?

Thanks for the help!!

That's fine for the primary fermentation. Just keep a cloth tied down around the top and once the SG gets down around 1.010 rack into your 3 gallon carboy. Hopefully you are actually starting out with about 3.5 gallons to allow for volume lost to lees.
