I just bottled this one. I'm impressed. For a 10 litre kit (plus 2 litres of grape skins) it turned out very nice.

I look forward to drinking this one in about six months.

Hey wjf,

Just wondering what your initial sg was.

I just started this kit and forgot to take the sg reading until just after, about 5 mins after i pitched the yeast, it was 1.072

Wondering if that makes any difference??

Oh and if its any where near as good as the 12 l. amarone i'll be pumped :r

My initial reading was 1.080. It could be that your hydrometer is difficult to read or that you didn't stir the kit enough before taking your reading.

Either way, I'm sure it will be fine and the ABV should come in around 10.5 %.

I think you'll enjoy this one.

so i was poking around my grape cheese cloth bag with my hydrometer and it broke (the hydrometer) into the wine......besides broken glass any other worrys??? anyone?

I'm not sure about that one. The hydrometer is essentially a glass float with a weight at the bottom to ensure that it floats upright and give it the correct buoyancy.

What it is weighted with I'm not sure. But, if it's lead you wouldn't want to be drinking it.
