    Replacement drum tap?

Thank you! I’m pretty sure I can find those white nylon fittings. I was wondering how to add a faucet or spigot but your photo helped. It looks like I could just add a hose to the barbed end of the fitting and clamp it. I was hoping for more of a spigot, though.

    Replacement drum tap?

Hi all, I need to replace a leaking tap I have on my blue plastic must barrel. It’s a Waddington & Duval drum tap that is no longer available. Any suggestions for a good quality food safe tap or faucet/spigot I can replace it with. I use the tap to drain juice out of the barrel before...

    vacuum pump for bottling?

Do any of you who have vacuum pumps to do your racking and degassing also use it to bottle your wine? If so, how do you do it? I'm just not happy with the wand-type bottle fillers and would like to use my vacuum pump to try to bottle. The stoppers that fit a 750ml wine bottle are pretty...

Wade, Will I be able to degass with the Shuco model? The gauge goes up to about 22". Is that sufficient? Thanks again! Michael

Aspirator pumps? Wade, Is it your aspirator I saw on Fine Wines? The red one? I'm thinking of going this route - I've seen a few on ebay. Can you advise on what capacity or what specs I should be looking at? Is it okay to use these for racking wine, given what their previous lives may have...

    topping up?

Okay, here's the problem though...........with this kit, I was supposed to rack in 6-8 days, once the SG got to 1.020 or lower. Well, on day 6, when I first checked it in the primary, the SG was actually at .998! So I racked it right away. The level of the wine in the carboy is at the...

    topping up?

I'm a little confused about when to top up. I'm making a chardonnay kit. I racked from the plastic primary pail to a secondary carboy a couple of days ago. I used an Italian 6 gallon carboy, which means there's some headspace. I have to rack again in a couple of weeks to another carboy. I'll...

    Newbie from NY here!

Hey, I spent nearly 30 years in Syracuse - and there is ONLY one season! Hint: White! I miss it though. My two daughters are students at SU (where I worked for many years).
