How to: Remove old wine labels

I have a trashcan that I bought specifically for soaking bottles. I fill it up with water and oxyclean. As I finish a bottle, I take off the foil from around the neck, rinse out, fill with some water, and drop it into the trashcan. When the trashcan fills up, I take out the ones where the...

    Another F-Pack question

I just started fermenting a Chilean Malbec about 7 days ago and would like to make it a Cranberry Malbec (like the Island Mist kits). I have a couple of questions: 1. Should I make the F-Pack from juice or fruit? 2. If I make from juice, what is the proper method? Buy a bottle of Cranberry...

    Meritage from Chilean Juice

Just wanted to ask an additional question. I went and bought a bottle of Cab Franc, Carmenere, and Malbec at the store. Would I be able to try some blending ratios with those finished wines?

    Meritage from Chilean Juice

Hey everyone, Haven't posted in awhile, but I have a question I'd like to pose to the membership. With the Chilean season approaching, my partner and I were thinking of making a Meritage blend from the juice. We just made a couple hundred bottles from the California crop back in September...

    Equipment question

What about plastic fermentation buckets? Between my carboys and those, I would have enough to cover it.

    Equipment question

Did the crush on Saturday. Going to need a container to keep the juice after the press. Our yield is going to be around 60 gallons give or take. Would it be ok to secondary the juice in Brute trashcans?

Looking for Grape Crusher/Destemmer and Press

Hey guys thanks for the tips. I was able to score via Craig's list 2 Wine presses and a motorized grape crusher for $500. You had to pick my jaw up off the floor when the guy made me the offer. I'm picking them up tonight. September can't come quick enough.

Fresh Juice in So. Jersey Philly area

Tom, Do you make alot of your wines from the juice instead of the kits? If so, is there any difference in taste? And.....if not difference in taste, wouldn't it be way cheaper for someone like me, who has made around 7 kits plus fruit wine by this point, to switch to the juice?

Cellar Craft Cellar Craft 18L Washington Merlot

I started it on 8/28. It's in secondary fermentation right now. I'll keep you up to date. This is my first grapeskin pack, so I'm anxious to see how it turns out. When it's ready for bulk aging, I'll give it a minimum 6 months, then bottle, and age further. It should be drinkable by next...

    Cellar Craft Ferrari Bottle filler

I rack from my carboy into the bucket when I bottle, then attach my hose to the spigot. It works for me. I really like the Ferrari. I only have that problem 1 to 2 bottles out of 30 where it leaks out of the top. Try twisting down on the top a little bit to adjust the amount of flow, that...
