Haha! That was my Grandma. She has since passed. She wasn't really a wino, we just called her that because she insisted on having wine with spaghetti. I kinda follow in her footsteps. :)

Haha, that was the intent. :) I think prickly is fair. I will look for that too. Thanks!

Ok, well that's new. Thanks. I will be on the lookout for "minerality". :)

But not that powerful. Just similar in sensation.

    Vibrating Tongue

I was just reminiscing a bit about that night and I came up with a better description. I think. Have you ever put a 9v battery to the tip of your tongue? It was kind of like that. Not as powerful, not as fast, and it covered a fair portion of the tongue since that's where the wine went.

Yepp, that's a possibility. But I drink a lot of wine, a lot. :) And I've never had an even somewhat similar reaction. Anyway, I guess there just isn't a real answer.

I'm pretty sure there was no sparkle. This wasn't a tingle. This was far more than that and like nothing I've experienced since. It felt like my tongue was vibrating.

Lol, in a Cali restaurant? Nothing.

Yeah, I'm pretty familiar with that one. That's why this one is so interesting. Maybe it was just some physiological reaction that only I have to that particular wine. I don't know.

Haha! Well, there were plenty of spiders in the grape batch I made last year and it doesn't make me tingle. :)

    No it wasn't.

    Vibrating Tongue

Hopefully that title got some attention. :) So here's my first question to the forum. What is it that makes a wine "vibrate" my tongue? At a restaurant in Cali many years ago, they served a wine that made my tongue feel like it was vibrating. And I liked it! But I have never found out what...

    Starting a newbie batch

I just pulled off a little taste of my concord batch. After 8 months in the bottle it has significantly improved. It's still not "good". But I could drink it. Flavor and aroma are just a little unpleasant still, but the alcohol content seems just right. I don't know how to describe the flavor...

Thanks Mike. But I might have a problem with that where the cherries are concerned. :) You made me curious about the tomato batch I did which showed some promise. So I just pulled off a 1/2 bottle from storage dated January this year. It's getting better! Nice and clear, amber red color and...

The sour cherry wine was surprisingly not bad. It wasn't really "good" either. VERY tart and very little alcohol. I sweetened it a little (I like the tart) and ended up drinking the whole (1 or 2 gal) batch. Still, for my first attempt I consider it a success. So this year I have 12 gallons. :)

Right now I only have sour cherry going. 12 gallons in carboys. I might try tomato again later in the year.

    Starting a newbie batch

Interesting, I did basically this very thing last year with my neighbor's grapes as my very first batch. Early tastes were not promising, but we're still aging. :) I'll keep watching and Good Luck!

Hey All, I'm still getting started with this vinting stuff so I thought I might need a "Support Group". :) I started with several batches last year, some good, some not, some not ready yet. I recently did my sour cherry batches for this year which are in carboys right now. As a newb, I have...
