    Fermentation surprise

    I racked Mulberry wine from primary fermenter into secondary. The fermentation was dead on arrival in secondary fermenter. I got worried. Not one bubble went through fermentation lock. I tasted it. It fermented to dryness in the primary fermenter!! It was in primary for only 5 days.

    Rubber stoppers

    I'm looking for a rubber stopper for a 1 gallon glass jug. My opening is 37mm or 1.45 inches. A number 7 stopper is too small. I am considering 7.5 or 8.5mm. Do you know which might fit best. Thank you for your response.

    Mulberry Time

    At the edge of the woods where the wild raspberries grow, Mulberry trees stand. I put my tarp on the ground and hit the branches with a stick. Sorted the good from the bad. I will weigh them and start making wine!

    Substitute for fermentation lick

    I use plastic food wrap held down tightly with rubber bands during all stages of racking before bottling. I've done this for decades with no oxidation of wine. Straight into secondary fermenter from primary my rubber bands are less tight.

    I'm John from Iowa. I've made wine off and on since 1972. My winemaking hobby was ended when I got nasal polyps. I could not smell or taste. Now a miracle, "Dupixent " , a drug that came along gave me back ability to smell and taste. I make fruit wines from recipes, not worried about...
