Actually, we love hackberry trees for our wood stove. Good burning wood.

True story. Back in the day, I was the section leader for the percussion section in our marching band. During an afternoon practice on the football field the band director allowed for a 5 minute break. A sousaphone player made it to the water fountain for a quick drink. The water fountain was...

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

I just noticed that the Triple Berry blend I use for my DB is high in vitamin C. Not just a buzz but a healthy buzz! My wife will be glad to hear that!

Other Vintners Best - fruit wine base (fruit juice)

I followed the DB recipe to the letter, but used dark tart cherries instead of triple berry. It was a big hit! Just an idea.

Home Brew Ohio has been VERY reliable for me. When my LHBS closes for good they will be my one-stop shop.

    Shelf life for ingredients?

I appreciate the quick replies. I think I’ll drive in tomorrow and pick up some supplies and hope for the best. I know I can’t go wrong on the bottles. I bought the last of their clear bottles and now all they have left are green ones. I prefer clear but half price? I don’t care what color they are!

    Shelf life for ingredients?

My LHBS is closing for good in a couple of weeks. Everything (almost) is 50% off. I’m thinking of stocking up on nutrient, energizer, tannin, campden tablets, and whatever else I come across. I know yeast will go in the refrigerator but what about the other ingredients? I keep them in a ziplock...

    Plaato airlock?

As fragile as hydrometers are maybe 33 hydrometers and 2 airlocks and stoppers! :D (Yes, I know the math doesn’t work, but I’m too tired to work it out.)

    What's for Dinner?

Pierogis are a favorite of mine. My wife doesn’t make them very often, but when she does I make a complete pig of myself! And yes, pan fried with onions in bacon grease and butter. Now I’m drooling on my keyboard!

    What's for Dinner?

I like to boil for 30 - 40 minutes so the skin is easily removed. After the skin is removed I cover in a dry rub and put in the smoker to internal temp of 180 degrees. Sliced thin with cheese and crackers and a bottle of wine and I’m ready to watch my K.C. Chiefs!
