    Too much k-meta I must?

OK, thanks guys. That's what I figured. Just wanted to confirm.

    Too much k-meta I must?

So, I started a new must yesterday. 15 lbs of peaches, 6 lbs of sugar, 3½ gallons of water. All together, it comes to 6 gallons in my primary. The instructions on my k-meta say ¼ tsp/6 gallons of must. However, I think I actually grabbed ½ tsp and dumped it in. My question is: is this...

I just noticed that it looks like all profile pics are gone. At least it's not just me LOL

    Missing profile pic...

I haven't been on the forums in a while, but I just got on and my profile pic is gone. I tried to restore it, but every time I select the file it shows the name for a second and then bites back to no file selected. Any thoughts?

    Brand spanking new...

I finally bottled my first batch of wine that I started with this thread. SG was still 1.012 but no activity for several weeks. I bottled it up on February 6, and now we wait. 😊

How much lees is too much lees?

There are little to no fruit solids in my wine, as I sugar juiced my fruit, and then drained off the juice/syrup to make the wine. The lees were pretty much just dead yeast. The attached pic is after settling for a week. I just siphoned off what I could and dumped the yeast. It's still a little...

How much lees is too much lees?

It was from sugar juiced fresh/frozen peaches. Yow, I guess I should consider myself lucky. LOL I poured the lees into a mason jar, stuck it in the fridge, and I'm waiting for the sediment to settle out, then I'll draw off the clear and have myself a snort. 😉

How much lees is too much lees?

This was from my secondary fermenter, but it's peach wine, which I'm told has a lot of sediment. I suger juiced fresh/frozen peaches for my must. I actually poured it into a mason jar and stuck it in the fridge. 😊 Thanks for the input!

How much lees is too much lees?

I just splash racked a 5 gallon carboy. I used my new all-in-one wine pump (love it), and waited 'til it was sucking air through the racking cane. I then poured off the lees, just to see how much was left. It filled a 750 no bottle just to overflowing. So my question is this: how much...

    Brand spanking new...

Hi @Rice_Guy, Thanks for the feedback. Well, this is the peach wine that I started with this thread. I just checked SG and it's still at 1.012, but there's been no activity for a couple months. I racked it about a month ago, and there's no bubbles and no new sediment. I just I ordered 2...

    Brand spanking new...

Hi all. Just wanted to pop in and say I'm still around. So, I'm getting ready to bottle my inaugural batch of wine. There has been no visible signs of fermentation for over about 2 months now. I racked the wine from its 1 gallon carboy into about a month ago and added a campden tablet. Does...

Looking for a good, simple peach wine recipe...

This is only my second foray into the world of winemaking. I did a 1 gallon test run first, with the same recipe. It's still in my secondary fermenter, but going could so far. I actually got a ton of peaches this summer, cut and pitted them and stuck them in the freezer. I've used about 35 lbs...

Looking for a good, simple peach wine recipe...

Well, in absence of a new recipe, I used this recipe again. I put up a new batch yesterday. Here're my primary fermenters. 😃 They're bubbling away and sound like a bowl of Rice Crispies™. 😆

Is what I made still salvagable?

Hello @Scooter68. I am definitely interested. It sounds delicious.

    Brand spanking new...

True, which is why I started small. 😉 Good advice. I'll definitely be digging through my junk drawers to find my turkey baster. It sounds so much easier than borking around with my autosyphon. Thanks and cheers! 🍷

    Brand spanking new...

😆 that sounds about right! As I mentioned above, though, it looks like fermentation has restarted, so I think I'll let nature take its course, fits the time being. 😊 Thanks and cheers!

    Brand spanking new...

@sour_grapes, that's what I was afraid of, however, I don't know if it was from jostling my jug about, but I just looked, and there are now streams of tiny bubbles rising up again, so it looks like fermentation is back on! 😃 I checked out the link on yeast starters and threw one together last...

    Brand spanking new...

Thanks for the input, @KCCam. I just verified that my hydrometer does read 1.000 in the filtered water I used for my wine. And I hadn't taken an SG reading for a while because of all that's involved. Because the wine is in a narrow necked 1 gallon carboy, I can't get my wine thief in it, and...
