Growing in High heat 95 F+

In Texas I battle just to keep my plants photosynthesizing in the heat. I recently visited a local gardener and he would wet all of his plants during the heat of the day for 10 mins about 4 to 5 times a day. When the moisture evaporates it has a cooling effect reducing the temperature on and...

    What do you think?

My Vines are looking pretty good. I Already had them pruned a few weeks back. I usually prune my vines late January or early February. Like you said, @Ricky2Guns I don't make money off my grapes, So I'm not trying to be Super Efficient or anything, if I pruned back to a few dead buds, oh well...

Second round at guessing this vine

Ricky I'm in the same boat you are in. I bought a couple of cheap vines from tractor supply labeled as Thompson seedless. All of them produced large round purple seeded grapes. Matter of Fact the grapes in my profile pic are from those vines. You could always contact your local ag extension and...

    Rat/squirrel rodent damage

I live out in the country, lots of woods and places for rats and raccoons to live and I've never had an issue with them. But I also have three dogs. My biggest issue is that wild cotton tails would come in the night and chew my vines in half so a little hardware cloth fixed that. But yea get a...

Don't look like last years grapes

Is it in a large pot/planter? If so, you are definitely going to have to supplement the vines nutrition. Like what @Sage said, you might try a diluted fertilizer. Maybe try a program with periodic feedings 2 to 4 weeks apart.

    Dying new vine, yellow/fuzz/black tips??

Hi Frances, I think the leaf fuzz is normal for some varieties. what have your outdoor temperatures been like for the past 3 weeks? How often do you water and for how long; Drippers or do you just run the hose on it for a while?

K deficiencies, Texas Heat Wave After math, and Champanel

In Texas, I've finally gotten a break in the Hot weather and my vines can start photosynthesizing again after almost 2 months of unbearable heat. My Concord, Cayuga, and Flame Seedless are showing signs of what I think are Low K levels. My Champanel however really performed for me in the heat...

Need Help with Possibly Dead Vines

Hey Josh, How hot has it been getting during the day in Eastern Washington? Most Grapes wont photosynthesize in temperatures above i think its 95 degrees. After that they are running off their root reserves to stay alive.

    Whats wrong with my grapes?

@pinkbelly , I wonder if it could be a bit of pierce. Pinot Noir is one of the most susceptible varieties to pierce Disease. If it is pierce i don't think there is much you can do except try planting a variety that has more tolerance/resistance to pierce disease. You might send in some petiole...
