Sand plum and blackberry/ mulberry wines

The sand plum is a southern tree I think. I've got a tree, but I haven't gotten any fruit off it the last couple of years because of a late freeze. I got these from a place near Edmond Oklahoma.

Sand plum and blackberry/ mulberry wines

This is the first racking out of the buckets. I started with 5lbs of sand plums and then a half and half mix of blackberries and mulberries (5 lbs total). Taste out of the buckets is awesome, I can't wait for the finished wine.

    Peach Wine

I've got a peach blackberry wine going at the moment. About 20 lbs peaches and 5 lbs of blackberries for the 5 gallons. It's pretty much done with the fermentation, when I do the next rack on the 27th, I'll be back sweetening. I kinda use the force, I've never used a hydrometer thingy. We'll see...

    What's for Dinner?

Hamburger helper cheesy enchilada, usually I use Italian sausage (Jimmy Dean), but tonight it was cubed pork loin because that's what I had. I always add 1/2 a diced onion and a can of Rotel drained.

    Mulberry Time

Is 1/2 gallon of pressed juice enough to make 1 gallon of wine? I've got a friend that has some in the freezer from last year.

What are you making and what have you made ???

I'm starting 5 gallons of peach blackberry wine next week. I picked the 4 lbs of blackberries at a local blackberry farm on Tuesday and got them frozen and bagged. The peaches arrive next Wednesday, I bought the 25 lb box, but after pitting, it will be less than that. For primary, I split the...

    Ancient Roman winemaking

Interesting topic! I love history of stuff and ancient how they made everything. I would think that until they figured out bottling, it would be hard to keep it from going bad or turning into vinegar.

    Peach plum wine

I've read up, it's not enough to hurt you. With bigger plums, I pitted them, but the sand plums are so small, it would be a pain in the butt.

    Peach plum wine

I totally agree, Scooter68! Freezing brings out more flavor.

    Peach plum wine

I just zippy bag them and store them in the freezer until I have enough. When I'm ready, I thaw them in the fridge for about 4 days. I've done this with persimmon and sand plum, never had any problems. I do the primary with the pits, they get strained out when going into secondary. Adds an...

    Wild Plum Recipe

I've only got 1 sand plum tree in my front yard. Hoping it gives me enough fruit this year for another 5 gallon batch. Year before last, I had to add red plums from the store and blackberries we picked to get enough fruit for the batch. It aged 1 yr last month. It's pretty good!

    Juice concentrates from Coloma

I want to try the apricot, how much concentrate would I need for a 5 gallon batch? How much sugar? I've only ever used fresh or frozen fruit from my trees.

Colomafrozen is going to start selling California grape concentrate

Wow! I've never seen this site! Has anyone used the apricot to make wine? How much would I need to make 5 gallons? I've only used fresh or frozen fruit from my trees to make wine, I've never used a kit or concentrate.

    Hello from Sapulpa, Oklahoma!

I'm in Sapulpa too! I live up behind Camden Ridge estates off highway 33 on 10 acres. One of our neighbors keeps bees I think. Dad used to, but they died one winter years ago. I think he still has hives out back.

    Persimmon wine settling when chilled

@beano ask any friends who hunt, they know where they are. I'm lucky to have a patch of trees on the land near me and the owner doesn't want them.

    Persimmon wine settling when chilled

Quick & Easy Plum Wine - And Here We Are I back sweetened with a cup of sugar per gallon. You have to let it age at least a year. I don't add the raisins. I pretty much use this basic recipe for all the wines I make. I also don't use a hydrometer, I kinda just "use the force" 🤣
