I tried using the charcoal on a previous FWK and it is gross! Made my latest FWK Sauvignon Blanc without charcoal and it came out a beautiful golden color. It may not be an authentic SB color, but it works for me!
I’m used to ordering WinExpert & RJS kits year round, no problem with availability. I’ve recently had good results with Finer Wine kits, but now they are mostly Out of Stock. Do the only offer kits at harvest time?
I tried using Nomacorcs for a while, but had the problem of the leading edge curling back when inserted with my Portuguese corker. Finally went back to good old reliable 1 3/4” agglomerates.
Finer Wine Zin finished fermenting, squeezed out the bag of skins. Added sulphite etc, degassed with my trusty All In One (don’t be a winemaker without it). Will now bulk age for a month or two, but couldn’t resist stealing a glass. It. Is. Good!!
My Zin is fermenting nicely and smells great! One bag of skins is very generous and enough for my needs. I have one innocent question and am not trying to cause trouble, just looking for ideas. What do we do with all the styrofoam coolers?
Northern Brewer and Midwest Supplies frequently have 20% off sales, which makes them competitive. Last month I took advantage of a quicky 25% off at Midwest.
The reason I suspected it was a sweetener is because it came in a clear plastic bag labeled “Sweetening Blend”. The bag was sticky and contained a urine- colored liquid.
Just received my shipment of Meritage from SHB. Three bags of oak, some dry skins, labels and sweetener. (Nice full page ad on inside cover of latest Winemaker mag). Will start as soon as WE Trinity White finishes bubbling in my Big Mouth Bubbler. Life is Good.
They don’t come with labels, but Label Peelers makes it easy to order kit matching labels with a click. My friends always comment on the colorful professional labels compared to my wimpy homemade printouts.
