Other Do wine kits expire? - old unopened kit

well this kit doesn't even use k-meta then! Is that possible? potassium sorbate exp 01/2023 = aka sorbate, "don't buy it, don't need it for this kit." sulphite exp12/2022 <----ahhhh is this the K-meta? Kieselsol exp12/2022 the K&C are probably ok. Chitosan exp 12/2022 the K&C are...

Other Do wine kits expire? - old unopened kit

I'm sorry, I'm not good with these slang terms for stuff! I looked up k-meta = potassium-metabisulfate. I have potassium sorbate, I assume that's the same thing as k-meta and potassium metabisulfate? you said get fresh k-meta, but than also no need for sorbate unless back-sweetening. Which...

Thank you @winemaker81 ! What would happen if I threw fresh Lalvin right over the top of the old EC1118 from last night?

It’s a Cru International California “Cabernet Sauvignon Style” I got carried away and pitched the expired yeast last night too before I sobered up to see what I wrought this morning. Yeast exp 03/2023 Bentonite exp 12/2022

Other Do wine kits expire? - old unopened kit

My kit parts are only a little expired. IMO. I should probably just head to local store and get replacement fresh: potassium sorbate, sulphite, Kieselsol, and Chitosan ya?

Other Which wine to top up carboy for fruit wine kit

How about spraying argon in there (wine saver can from amazon)? or just getting a can of CO2 and spraying that into the empty space and sealing that off with an air lock?

Other Which wine to top up carboy for fruit wine kit

All this is internet gold. I like to think of forums as both q&a plus discussion. And frequently, people digress into things that I’ve also experienced, and am interested in. Asked and answered! Now what other fun things can we chat about?! Now on this other forum, the the Original Post was...

Other Which wine to top up carboy for fruit wine kit

I recently started this kit https://labelpeelers.com/wine-making/wine-kits/finer-wine-kits/frutta-series/oh-so-strawberry-wine-kit/ My 6G carboy is a bit shy of where I’d like the level up the neck. Any suggestions on what type of wine I should use to top it up? thanks!

Other Diy wine in a box??

Yes you’re right on that count too. I should reuse them also! When/if I ever get them back from my friends, sometimes they’ll have skanky old mold wine bits in the bottom, and those are real tough to clean - more difficult than using a new bottle. I think on this next batch, I’ll put a “reuse...

Other Diy wine in a box??

Another big expense (and source of garbage!) are the bottles. Anyone tried using these boxes? https://astrapouch-na.com/ $28 3L Wine Bag-In-Box Kits [Eco-Friendly Wine Bottle Alternative] - Easily Bottle, Dispense & Store Your Wines - Perfect For Home Winemakers (3L Bag-In-Box Kits, 6 pack)...

little bubbles in finished Pinot Noir kit from Cru International

@1d10t like one of these amazon vacu-suck? Now I can certainly de-gas when I open them. That'd be quick and easy. I've got one of these little jobbies that would probably do the trick. Maybe even too much. I'll try some different stuff out. How about those cans of argon to spray in there?

little bubbles in finished Pinot Noir kit from Cru International

All really good points. Yes, I wanted to make sure there wasn't any restarting fermentation with the residual sugar at 1.000 I thought it sitting in the carboy for additional time would be okay. Bulk aging, yup, that's the thing! I'm thinking I should have racked one more time before bottling...

little bubbles in finished Pinot Noir kit from Cru International

I mostly followed the directions here. I'm sure I boned this up somewhere. 7/2/20 started, SG 1.090, primary fermenter 7/12/20 1.000, racked into secondary carboy, added sulphite, potassium sorbate, kieselsol then chitosan 9/9/20 bottled Instructions suggested bottling at day 35, would have...

    recommendations for new backyard vines

I'm in Seattle area Pacific North West. Not a lot of sun of course, lots of moisture. My neighbor has some grapes that are trellised and doing terrific. The wine they make has been a challenge. I'd like something easier and darker. Any suggestions? Thanks! Oh, and where to get them. I heard I...
