    What is your Wine recipe?

Here's one for you, http://blog.eckraus.com/strawberry-wine-recipe, I changed a few things like 21.5 lbs. of strawberries, I didn't feel like putting just a couple lbs. back in the freezer. And I changed the yeast to D47. I really believe the yeast made a big difference in the flavor, and...

    Oil dissolves glue

I,e been buying my bottles at Aldi for 2.99 with a 1/5 of wine in them and have been able to remove the labels very easily with just dish soap and a rag. And for those labels that are put on with dry hard glue i just use a brillo pad, and in no time flat they're clean as a whistle. I'm tired of...

    Blueberry #3

I do have an F-pack in the freezer just waiting to use it, also the recipe that I used was from EC Krause http://eckraus.com/content/blueberrywine.pdf I just added 2 & 1/2 lbs. extra blueberries to it to add more body and flavor, and since I don't have a press I need to keep it manageable...

    Blueberry #3

Just started my 3rd batch of blueberry wine, 2 last yr. and this one, I used 15# of blueberries for 5 gallons, unprocessed cane sugar that looks, smells and taste somewhat like honey, and 1/2 cup of American oak chips, the starting SG was 1.101 and I used 116 yeast. Now my question is I'm...

WHat to do with horribly sweet wine?

I had a plum wine that was way to sweet and fixed by adding a dry red store bought wine, the cheapest I cold find was Valorso - Rosso, an Italian dry red at $5.99 worked great. (it's a 1.75 bottle)

    May I get some advice

Hey Papa, this is some great advice, I'm new at wine making also and have made 2 5gal. batches of wine with the EC Krause recipe that calls for 13 lbs of blueberries, and your story sounds very familiar, my advise is to not get in any hurry to sweeten the wine. Let it do it's thing and then...

    first wine kit

I started the wine yesterday ( Saturday ), and I see that there's no mention of stirring the must or punching down the cap, my question is, should I just leave it alone and not worry about it, or give it a stir once a day?

    Looking for equipment advice

I would suggest using a carboy hood instead of a drilled rubber stopper/bung. All the rubber stoppers I've tried stink of cheat rubber and make it hard to smell the wine. They run 2-3 $ and will fit an airlock with no problem.

    first wine kit

Just bought my first wine kit from Label Peelers, the Mezza Luna Red kit. I've made some fruit wines and always use a tool over the primary, never the lid, but the kit calls for the lid. Is there any reason why I should change my procedures now? I've never had a problem in the past with the...

    Oil dissolves glue

Just bottled 25 bottles of wine, but had to clean the glue off the bottles first. It took me less than 2 hours using Wesson oil, and that was 'cause of limited space. I just rub the oil on and let them sit while I brought more bottles from the back room to the kitchen. I then gave them a light...

    "All Nat. Flavoring"

I think this was my 2nd batch of wine, and I learned my lesson. Although talking to some friends that I give the wine to, we come up with a great idea, just add a lemon, lime, and orange wedge to it and you got sangria.

Taste like the plum pitts, not plums, this is the wine I messed up on and thought that the all nat. flavoring would help bring out the flavor but it didn't. I added sugar to back sweeten...
