Cleared Lord Rhys Mead going cloudy again...

I was downstairs in my man cave/workshop/brewing room and saw my chocolate mead that's been bulk aging had gone cloudy after being pretty well cleared last year...Not sure why or how this happened. I followed the Lord Rhys Chocolate Mead recipe pretty closely. Currently I'm not too worried: it...

    Funny honey

If you already have bread yeast going, you could do a batch of JAOM...It's more or less a cookie-cutter recipe and easy to do. Makes decent mead. Not gonna be a show-stopper, but decent enough.

    Cherry Mead

good to know! i'll be trying another batch in Feb/March of next year and I'll try cutting the vanilla in half. Right now the vanilla flavor is mellowing, but unfortunately it overpowers the cherry. I suppose I could always do a straight cherry mead and mix it with my current batch...:dg

    Cherry Mead

I made a similar 5g batch at the same time as you (i used tart cherry juice instead). Thought it was cleared, and bottled it about 6 months in. have a bit of sediment at the bottom of the bottles now, but not enough to empty them and re bottle. I went with 1 vanilla bean per gallon and was a a...

    Getting Ready For Second Rack

F-Pack (or flavor pack) is added to the wine towards the end as a way to back-sweeten the wine. normally it's concentrated juice that gives the wine more sweetness and any other flavor you wish to add. :b

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

I'd imagine you could do that---it'll just take additional racking to remove the extra debris floating around in there. I've seen people who let fruit float in the must and disregard mesh bags altogether, but they have these issues. The end result is probably the same or identical as using a...

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Time for my second batch...I'm upping the fruit to 12lbs, and debating on adding some pomegranate juice. At the store they have "Pom" in a snowman-shaped bottle. I didn't see any preservatives listed, but wanted to be sure...Anyone have experience with this one?

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Yeah, it's kinda yeasty, but the most pronounced smell is fruity, like a bad batch of fruit. I'll probably start a second batch in a week or two, since I have a fermenter & carboy available.

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Hey All, hope everyone had a Happy New Year!!! Sorry for the essay, but I figured I'd give as much info as possible.... This is my first attempt at making Dragon Blood. I set up the must as described by DangerDave on 12/18, and pitched yeast 24 hours afterwards with the brew belt plugged in, on...
