    Cloudy Tropical Skeeter pee

I've made Skeeter Pee before. Didn't really enjoy it. I've made regular Dragon Blood before and always enjoy it. This time I decided to make one batch of Regular Dragon Blood with Raspberries, Blueberries and Blackberries and it turned out clear. And made a batch at the same time of a...

    Residual Carbonation while bottling

I made 2 x 5 gallon batches of Dragon Blood. Fermented it dry. (Well currently it sits at 1.002 for a month) Racked it from bucket to carboy to carboy to carboy and degassed everytime. Also added metabisulfate and sorbate. I chose not to backsweeten. I have been filing bottles from the...

Starting my first Dragon Blood, questions will go here...

I find 1 tablespooon per 750 ml bottle is more then sufficient after fermenting dry.

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Disregard the whole not clearing thing I guess. lol Maybe it was the tripling of the berries. Maybe it was the weird angle of sunlight. Maybe it was the thickness of the carboy. I don't know but I pulled a bottle and it was crystal clear in the bottle. Added 2 tablespoons of sugar as...

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

As stated above I racked these two batches on Jan 28 and added everything I stated above. Never really cleared too much. A lot of lees fell to the bottom over the next week or so. On Monday although not clear I racked to fresh carboys (leaving the lees behind obviously) to see if it would...

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

What is peoples average clearing time when not filtering? https://s27.postimg.org/djnkmzam9/image1_4.jpg https://s28.postimg.org/z2lp71q0b/image1_6.jpg I racked these two batches to the carboys on Jan 28 when they hit 1.000 Added 1/2 tsp Potassium Metabisulfate to each and mixed/degassed well...

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Well I racked my 45ish litres from buckets to carboys. My carboys are only 5 gallon. Therefore I had about 4 litres plus I just couldn't waste so begrudgingly am drinking them. 2/3 Dragon Blood, some Ginger ale and a splash of Orange Juice and the wife and I are feeling no pain tonight.

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Just curious if there can be any negative effects doing what I did. Had it fermenting for at around 71 degrees for about 11 days. When the batch hit just under 1.010 I put a heater close by for about 12 hours to finish it off quicker (didn't mean to get the batch up to 110 degrees but I...

    New Wine Room

Wowzers! Great Project. I probably should have built a wine room instead of the 600 square foot deck we just had built since I live in snow country and only get to use the deck half the year. :) I'm planning to build this EXACT setup in my "wine room" which is really just the far end of...

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Thanks. Another question. When do I want to snap the lid down and add a bung and bubbler? After I add the yeast?

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

I'm about to start my first batch(es) of Dragon Blood. I have 2 five gallon carboys so will adjust the recipe accordingly (doesn't look like I have to adjust much0. I'm confused by the one step though. Carefully rack off one gallon of wine into a cleaned and sanitized container, and set...

    First Batch(es) of Skeeter Pee

Day 28 On day 23 both carboys were still quite cloudy so I poured in a pack of kieselsol and a pack of chitosan into each carboy and mixed well. Within a day or two one carboy became very very clear except for some lees collecting on the sidewalls and a good half inch of lees on the...

    First Batch(es) of Skeeter Pee

Day 18/~420 hours. Racked back to clean carboys. Added 1/2 tsp Kmeta and 2 1/2 tsp sorbate to each 5 gallon batch. Degassed with one of them thingies on a drill for a solid 10 minutes forward/reverse. ================================= Day 20/~475 hours. Very cloudy still...

    First Batch(es) of Skeeter Pee

Day 17/400 hours One carboy is sitting at .998 and the other at .996. Neither is bubbling much anymore so I splash racked into buckets and snapped lids onto them with bubblers. In about 24 hours after they have settled I will splash rack back to the cleaned carboys and add the sorbate...

    First Batch(es) of Skeeter Pee

Thanks. Sounds like the wife wants me to use a rasberry concentrate rather then a cranberry concentrate for flavour in one of the 5 gallon batches. I'll add one can once its clear and ready for backsweetening and go from there. =========================================== Day...

    First Batch(es) of Skeeter Pee

At day 6 (144 hours) the primaries were both at 1.01 and I racked them to carboys before leaving for 5 days. Came back home last night and they were still bubbling away nicely. Checked the SG on both tonight (day 12/288 hours) and they are at between .998 and 1.000 and still bubbling away...

    First Batch(es) of Skeeter Pee

SG last night was down to 1.03 on one and 1.026 on the other so i figure by tonight it'll be good to rack to carboys and stick a bung and bubbler in. thanks.
