    Foot stomping grapes

Late to the issue, but I've been foot stomping myh own grapes for maybe twenty years. Results vary, possibly some wild yeats or other beasties on occasion; one never know. I do foot stomping because I lost access to a crusher, and then only had perhaps 20 pounds of grapes anyway. Buying grapes...

    Japanese beetles help

Beetles are almost gone here in Denver; one or two per day. What tells them the season is over; just last years hatch complete?

    Japanese beetles help

Beetle season must be almost over here in the Colorado foothills. Seeing way fewer the last week and smaller body counts in the bag. Going to try nematodes this month for future reductions. Hate to think of poisons. Besides, the squirrels and coons are as bad.

Yeah, and now I've got raccoon(s) as well. Grapes all over the patio every morning. JBs and raccoons and birds, oh my.

    What's in your glass tonight?

(Sorry, a carriage return sends an unfinished message, does not make a paragraph.) Just opened my last bottle of the 78 PWC Ruby Port (my 43rd effort); an international blend of California Red grape, Honduran Banana, Colorado Honey, and Oregon plums, fermented to 14% and 1.030 SG before adding...

    Post your labels here

Yes, I wanted to use mnemosyne, but some one had already registered it (this was for my original use back in the old User Group days), so I went with something close, and used ".sine" because I'm an EE. (I'm delighted that I remember that far back.)

    Post your labels here

Last bottle of the '75 Maderia. Recorking all my older wines, mostly really sweet (as you can see for this one), and decided to drink it instead. Very rich, smooth, and since it was baked in my basement estufa, the fact that the cork was in bad shape did not seem to have damaged the wine at all...

    Corking screw-top bottles

I've bottled about eight case using -reusing- the original screw tops. Had two leaks; both took another quarter turn on the cap. One has to be careful. I'm still switching to novatwists; they look so much better!

    Corking screw-top bottles

Cheers ahoy. I've been bottling in recycled screwtops several years, using recycled and sterilized screw caps. Had only two leaks; I needed to twist on another quarter turn. The Novatwist looks great, and is cheap enough to let me switch. And the bottled wine looks much better. But seriously...

    WineXpert Bravado Super Tuscan

Only six bottles of my 2016 left. Should have waited longer but it's so hard... I have some Zin/Shiraz that's good now; maybe I'll be able to hold off on those last six bottles.
