    Pvc tube

I use a bucket press so I used the bucket with holes in it as my "pvc tube" in a similar fashion. The one time I didn't do it, the press took twice as long! It was a life saver for me. -Josh

Other Oak Additions - Need to Boil?

I don't treat them at all. Straight into the carboy / fermentor. I might be pushing my luck but I've added oak 20 times (?) over the years with no issues that I noticed. -Josh

My plan for 2017 wine from California grapes

I have my orders locked in, supplies on the way and everything cleaned up and ready to go! I am doing the following: 3 lugs of Old Vine Carignane 3 lugs of Cab Sauv from Mukelumne River Lodi 2 lugs of Washington Cab Franc No juices for me this year, although I might get a bucket to mix with a...

    WineXpert WE LE2013 Pinot Noir

Good to hear! It was the first PN kit that I did. I also have the Passport Sonoma PN aging right now. Hoping for good things with that one as well. -Josh

    WineXpert WE LE2013 Pinot Noir

Finally bottled this wine after about 18 months in carboy. Yeah, I know......time just got away from me. Really amazing dark fruit flavors but also super balanced. Looking forward to opening these over the next year. -Josh

My plan for 2017 wine from California grapes

Just picked up another 32 gal Brute fermenter. Right now leaning towards: 3 Lugs - Old Vine Carignane 3 Lugs - Cab (Lodi, Mukelumne River Greek Garden) 3 Lugs - Syrah (Lodi) I might change up the Cab to Paso Robles but we will see. -Josh

RJ Spagnols RJS Restricted Quantities 2018

The EMINENCE Tempranillo is def on my list to order but I will probably pass on the rest. I also like that it's released in Feb as it's in between the northern and southern hemisphere harvests. -Josh

Harford Vineyard Now Offering Rattlesnake Hill Grapes

My local place appears to have these as well this year. The Pinot and Cab are tempting but as you said, the price is high.

Cellar Craft Italian Sangiovese/Cabernet Sauvignon LR

Another update on this wine: Opened up a split last night and was still impressed. Still has the berry nose with more oak coming through than I remember. Taste wise, it has really come together. No noticeable alcohol but the oak is more prominent than I remember it being. Harshness at the...

    Other Kits on deck?

Down to one kit that I will get going over the holiday break....the WE LE Oregon Pinot Noir. I have the Passport Sonoma Coast PN on order as well so need to get this one going. Doing a better job on my wine kits than I am on brewing grains....100's of pounds just waiting to be mashed. -Josh

    WineXpert Limited Edition 2014 Triumph

It was a tough decision but I decided to pass on this kit. It was the one I wanted the most out of the WE LE lineup. I have a lot (for me) of reds in carboy and bottle and I had already pre-ordered the Passport Pinot Noir. I am sure this will be a great wine. -Josh

    Used wine barrel

Just my opinion but I'd buy it and use it for barrel aging sour beers. Then I would buy a new one for wine. Again, just my opinion based on my setup and not knowing the price. -Josh
