    Fermentation Temperature for Red Wine

Agreed; I am under he impression that the temperature indicated in the article (WineMaker Mag) is the wine temperature. I have a fermentation chamber and monitor/control via wine temperature.

    Fermentation Temperature for Red Wine

I read an article that discussed the importance of fermentation temperature and control. This article indicates that for desirable extraction of color compounds and tannins in red wine the best fermentation range is usually considered as 79-86°F (26-30°C). For red wine concentrate...

    Free floor corker

Funny story. I told my wife that I was going to pick up a corker this weekend to replace my old one. Apparently she already ordered me a floor corker as a late present. I was tempted to tell her to return it but the last time I told her I was going to return a present she got me it didn't go...

CRISA Glass Carboys - Are they safe to use?

Yeah, I did a search; I didn't come up with anything on the lead subject but figured I would poll the community. Thanks for your help! Quite possibly [emoji39]. They made pretty large quantities of cordials; at one point to they had 4 of these going.

    Free floor corker

If you still have the corker available I wouldn't mind swinging by one weekend to pick it up. My double arm hand corker recently broke and I am in the market for a floor corker now.

CRISA Glass Carboys - Are they safe to use?

I acquired 2 CRISA carboys from my parents; they used them to make cordials. I am not concerned about their structural integrity; these are pretty thick and heavy. I am concerned about the chemical composition; is it possible that the glass has lead in it? I am not sure what year they were...

Looking for a Wine Additive Guide

Does a guide exist that discusses the various wine additives and how, which wine type, and why it is used (e.g. Nutrients, Tannins, Enzymes, etc.)? I have seen discussions where the vintner adds various additives to the wine but the reason why it is added is not usually discussed. I looked at...

    Aeration-Oxidation Procedure and Chemical Questions

I thought it would be more cost effective if I built one myself. Looks like I will go with the More Wine setup. Can anybody provide a better understanding of the all of the chemical and process questions in the original post? I just want to get a better understanding. Thanks, MT

    Aeration-Oxidation Procedure and Chemical Questions

I am going to dive in and assemble my own A/O apparatus; during my research I found conflicting information and am hoping for some clarification on chemicals and methods. When it comes to the Hydrogen Peroxide Concentration I have read journal articles and instruction guides that conflict with...

Thanks Novalou... That's a great idea! Unfortunately my diswasher doesn't have a sanitizing dry; but it does have and option for Hi Temp Wash, Hi Temp Rinse and Heated Dry... I am sure this will do the same thing. Thanks again, MT

    Pecautions when Using Old Bottles

Precautions when Using Old Bottles A lady at my work recently overheard that I needed a few wine bottles in my first endeavor into making wine. She donated 24 bottles to me (they have been stored in her garage for a year or two). Most of the bottles were stored upside down and are moderately...
