Last year my grandson had a unique picture taken. It reminded me so much of Marlon Brando's angst yelling "Stella". My daughter thought this was a good idea for the Strawberry label!

    Blasted snow shovels!

Just an FYI... I run into the same problem with the shovel's blade deteriorating every couple of years. Since I bought it at Sears and the handle says "Craftsman" I bring it back to Sears and get a free replacement. I hope this policy continues! Joe R.

    dont be scared..show your age

The "Smells of our youth".... The smell of the glue we used in putting together models. The glue we used was called Testors and was made in Rockford, IL. Actress Susan St. James' (McMillan and Wife, Kate and Allie) dad was president of the company and became very famous in the 60s for coming...

Heat gun versus boiling water to seal shrink caps

I tried both heat gun (HF) and boiling water methods. Was not satisfied with the outcome of either. So I figured it had to be technique. Sure enough, after a little practice on some empties, the results were consistent and looked great! I settled on the boiling water method. 3 things I...

    My Son’s Scout Eagle Project

Steve, Looks fantastic! Being from IL and traveling "up north" quite often, just wondering which forest preserve? Might have to throw a log on it some time in the future... Joe R.

    Hi From western NC

Yes I have seen the show on occasion. I believe he is also near Boone, NC if I remember correctly. I am from IL but my daughter graduated from WCU so we've been down there numerous times! Again, welcome. Joe R.

    Ta-Da Photos inside our cellar

Sammyk, love the cellar. More than anything I am glad you were able to solve your cooling issues. That was one heck of a hurdle to get over. I am also glad you left the dust on. I still think it looks better!!!!! Joe R.

    New Policy in Effect Immediately

I'll tell you what Dan, it looks like a perfect fit for my old pool sight. Yours is 1of the solutions my wife and I discussed along with crushed rock, flagstone, etc. I love the ability to color it to choice. I've even considered painting with an epoxy for a different color. The mis-matched...

    New Policy in Effect Immediately

Dan, just curious... Was this area formerly the home of an above ground pool???? We have an almost exact type of patio where we removed a 24 ft. round above ground pool (kids grew up and it was hardly ever used). I put used/donated patio blocks down until I could afford concrete. Still not there...

    New Policy in Effect Immediately

Nothing I hate more than wallpaper. Easy to remove but if painting, nothing worse than trying to remove the glue. There are commercial remedies and Internet secrets and believe me none of them work. I've tried every solution but always spend 2+ hours on a 1 x 1 foot section doing my best...

Here is why state laws require bottles to be smashed!

I can not help but remember one of my favorite scenes/lines from the 70s/80s comedy WKRP in Cincinnati. Salesman Herb Tarlick was at his desk pouring from a bottle in a brown bag into an empty bottle of Chivas Regal. The program director, Andy Travis, walks in and asks "What are you doing...

    Ink Jet vs. Laser

As a computer professional, I switched over to laser printing years ago due to quality, cost and maintenance. I bought a $50 black laser printer that handles 90% of my printing needs and I refurbed an HP 4500 for my color needs. I won't get into all of the details on the benefits of laser vs ink...

    cleaning a carboy

I also use the eBay version of the bottle/carboy brush. A few observations from my use of the brushes... - As stated earlier, the pads are not replaceable. - The bottle brush head is too big to fit into 12/20 oz. bottles. Had to use the bristle brush with loop cut off. - These brushes have...
