    Cleaning plastic carboys

Hello folks So here we go, my thought of the week arrived at work the other day when I washed my plastic sports water bottle. I hadn't used it in a while and water had sat in it. I emptied the water and washed in hot soapy water. I then ran my finger inside the bottle and felt the slime...

    Other Kenridge founders brunello

My brunello kit is now in the bulk ageing phase (as of today) the gravity shows exactly 0.100. I thought it would drop when I tested to degass etc but it hasn't. Will it drop over the months of ageing in the carboy or is this standard for this type of wine??

    Other Hangovers

Is it my imagination; or does anyone else get a worse hangover from drinking kit wine to a comparable volume of commercial? Don't get me wrong I'm not ploughing through the stuff but last night I had half a bottle of white winexpert NZ sauv blanc and just under a half bottle of the winexpert...

    Other Grape packs

Has anyone got any DIY tricks to weigh down a grape pack keeping it submerged. I'm thinking a small weight with a short piece of string tied to the mesh bag to keep the pack floating in the centre of the fermenter. Not sure what would be small enough and heavy enough and safe to add to wine...

WineXpert NZ Sauv Blanc; KRF Vs WE Int est

I was thinking of doing my next NZ sauv blanc kit using Ken Ridge Founders series as its cheaper than the WineXpert Selection international estate kit, it also appears to be 18l rather than 16 in the WE. Has anyone done both before and able to offer a comparison review? Cheers Billy

Uk based members and vine share

Firstly: I am looking for contact from other UK members to share tips on our side of the pond. Secondly: anyone with experience of vine share schemes in Europe. I have found some websites that allow you to rent a row of vines cared for by the vinyard; but they at the end of it they make the...

Cellar Craft Why is this not available in the UK

Cellar craft seems to be pretty much as good as it gets having read the reviews, as a result; why is this yet to appear in the UK. Personally I make the selection estate kits. Either ultra premium or premium. How do they compare to cellar craft? I can't grumble with the quality of my...

SG on selection kit with grape pack

Hello everyone I am a new member to this site. I have recently started a Selection estate tempranillo with grape pack. I was very surprised to see my starting gravity at 1.080. I recently made a napa valley merlot selection kit which started at 1.100. 1.080 seems very low to me and likely to...
