    Nutrients for hard lemonade

I don't think a tsp of fermaid o is comparable to a tsp of off the shelf yeast nutrient. Maybe I am wrong. I am looking for the recommended YAN level for 11 Brix that is 3 quarts lemon juice, sugar and enough water to get to 5.5 gallons.

    Nutrients for hard lemonade

That is exactly what I am making but that does not address my questions.

    Nutrients for hard lemonade

I am going to make a 5 gallon batch of hard lemonade. It is basically lemon juice, sugar and water. The starting brix will be about 11. Yeast is two 5g packages of D47 rehydrated with go-ferm. I plan to use fermaid k pre fermentation and fermaid o about 2/3 of the way through a...

    Filtering

I got This Filter. I filtered the 2 gallons mead that was not clearing up and it is now perfectly clear. I also filtered 2.5 gallons of very cloudy mead and it is now perfectly clear. The filter was pretty clogged by the time I was done though. I back washed the filter with hot PBW, soaked...

    Mead not clearing

I made a batch of Texas Twang. It is mead with Jalapeños and Cucumber. Primary fermentation was done so I racked the mead on top of fresh cucumber and Jalapeños, let it sit a week then filtered it through a 1 micron filter. It has a haze that does not appear to be going away. Could it be a...

    Filtering

Anyone try one of these filters?

    Filtering

What about one of these filters? It is expensive but I bet I could reuse it a lot. Worth messing with?

    Filtering

I have a buno super jet and it does a good job of filtering but it is a pain in the *** to use and does spray wine all over the place. I drape paper towels over the top to contain the spray. The all in one wine pump is way easier and if I can get the filter figured out I will be very happy.

    REVIEW: *allinonewinepump*

I can't believe I have been making wine for so many years without one. This is a must for any winemaker. Not only is it a great product it is very well put together. You get everything you need in the kit, no need to run to the hardware store. I was very impressed with the quality and ease...

    Filtering

I read that post prior to purchasing the filter setup. I followed it exactly including ordering the exact parts and filters from filtersfast.com. I have only used the filter one time so the filter cartridge was new. I can see the imprint on the filters so it does not make since that it is...

Wine filter needed for aspiring napa wine maker

I have this for sale. It is used but works fine. You can get sterile filters cheap if you buy in bulk. If you are interested PM me.

    Filtering

The wine was clear prior to filtering but that shouldn't matter. The filter should stop any particle over 1 micron no matter how much of it there is in the wine up until the filter gets clogged enough to stop flow. The filter lid appears to be fine. If I blow air into the 9" dip tube that...

    Filtering

I like to filter wine right before bottling to avoid settlement. The wine was clear enough to read a newspaper. Maybe the wine snuck around the filter? Maybe the filter was defective???

    Filtering

I have a Buon Vino super jet filter that I have been using for years. I never had any settlement after using it. Maybe I can rig the all in one to suck the wine through the super jet filters.

    Filtering

I recently got an all in one wine pump and love it. I took a the recommendation and got the cartridge filter as recommended. I used it two weeks ago on a batch of mead with a 1 micron filter. After filtering I bottled the mead. It looks nice and clear but I am getting a dusting of sediment...

    pH

Never mind it is at 3.8 tonight. I have this pH meter and it was calibrated so I am pretty confused. I also had the must stirred very well as I had just vigorously stirred adding O2. The SG dropped from 1.08 to 1.072 in the first 24 hours.

    pH

I just started a batch of mead with just honey and water and the pH is 5.3. Should I add some acid to bring it down a little?

    staggered nutrient addition

I just started a batch of mead with just honey and water. The starting brix is 20. Should I reduce the YAN requirements for the lower starting brix? I was thinking 250 rather than the 350 used in a 25 brix must.

    Yeast for a small batch

71B. It is cheap enough that I could use 2 grams and toss the rest of the package. I am just wondering if it hurts anything to use the whole 5 grams along with the additional goferm needed to rehydrate 5 grams vs. 2 grams.
