    Cellar Craft CC Showcase Amarone

I'm finally down to my last 5 bottles of Amarone from CC. This was the 2004/2005 vintage and I can safely say that even with 1.5" corks, this wine has enough structure to still be at its peak even 6 years later! Very few kits can do that without doctoring a little. The bitterness is coming...

    Copper Wire

After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, New York scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago. Not to be outdone by the New Yorkers, a California archaeologist...

RJ Spagnols 2007 RQs are awesome!

I know that probably not many of you have any RQs left from the 2007 lineup, but I've been leaving mine alone as every time I tried one, it just seemed a little raw. Well, last night I was making a Hungarian Goulash and needed some red wine to start in the stew. So I picked the Montepulciano...

    Tan'Cor Grand Cru

For those of you who use the stuff, what is your preferred dosage to start with? I know, you are supposed to use bench trials for each wine, but over time, you'll start to see an average of where you like it to be. So do you like it in the 10g/hl range as a mild addition or in the 30g/hl...

RJ Spagnols Description of RJS products

Here is a copy n' paste from the RJS forum from Lisa Jones, as she explains the kits you can get from RJS. Personally, I think her ageing recommendation are a little on the young side. Remember these are minimum ages you should put on the wine when in bottle or bulk ageing, but after the...

ENOLMatic is the best thing EVAR!!!!

I finally around to bottling my 2007 RJS RQs today and finally used the ENOLMatic that I got for Christmas. I had been playing with it using water, but it is just not the same with water as it is with wine! Wine foams up, but water doesn't. It took about 10 bottles to get the trick to it...

    decent free wine TV

I don't know how many of you have been bitten by podcasts, and now video podcasts, but this site is pretty good. The main guy is quite a character and offers some good advice. I don't always agree with his assessements, but everyone's palate is different. It's a good way to waste a few...
