Stop and smell the flowers but not this one

This plant is a stapeliad. This year is the first time it has bloomed and it is so amazing what nature has to offer even if it isn't so pretty. It smells like a dead animal and no butterfly or bee would go near it. It is pollinated by flies. The white things in the center are fly eggs....soon to...

    Hurricane Ike still causing grief

I keep telling my self how lucky I am that I had minimal damage. But this is a very far reaching emotional and nerve racking event. Believe me....I should not complain because of the tradgedy that so many are facing. But the effects trickle down to even the most minute of circumstances...

    Queen of the Night

Last night my Epiphyllum oxypetalum bloomed for the first time. This morning it has faded away. I'm so happy that I got to see it bloom and spent a couple hours taking pictures of it. (over 100). I don't know if it is a coincidence but the last time one of my plants bloomed it was also on the...

    A BEGUILING WINE LABEL

I've been busy today making labels and have enjoyed every minute of it. One thing you can't see and it shows on the printed label is that the picture of the woman is in a square with a pale green background. really looks interesting. Edited by: rgecaprock

All purpose just substitue a name

I got started this morning on labels and it is just plain hard to get away from it and get my housework done. But this is more fun. I made this one with no particular wine in mind. I'll use it some time.

Compost Heap what do you think

I have a compost heap started and was wondering if I could add the wine dregs to it. Or will I have a Drunk Garbage Monster roaming the yard. When I get to the bottom of my carboy I pour the last of it in a pitcher and stick it in the fridge and pour the good stuff off the top, glass by...

    MERLOT GOES WITH ANYTHING

Tonight, I just put some parboiled yukon gold potatoes in the oven with some seasoned(spicy)chicken breasts and some BBQ sauce in an iron skillet(out of charcoal for the grill....oven better), then some corn on the cob. I have to say that Merlot....especially Stag's Leap.....goes with anything...

    SANGIOVESE LABEL

Tomorrow I may get the Sangiovese bottled. I was trying to make a label with an Italian feel to it that would look nice on the table with a bowl of sphagetti and meatballsand some candle light. I kind of like this one. Ramona Edited by: rgecaprock
