    Label removel - easy

Hot water to remove the paper... SOS pad and hot water for the glue. Cheap and usually works fine for me.

    Buy grapes in Calgary

The guys at The Home Vintner on 14th St north might be able to help you.

RJ Spagnols 1st Taste of Super Tuscan

Yeah, you get 2 little or 1 big one. Same thing. Just remember to take a cup of water out of your primary to a) rinse out the juice bag, and b) rinse out those jars. Don't wanna leave anything purple out of the equation LOL!

    LHBS's in Calgary

Hi Rob I'm just outside Calgary, but I refuse to purchase anything at the Calgary Stores..the markups are pretty massive. I spend a little money on gas and drive 1.5 hrs north to Red Deer to shop at Valentine. Last week I bought 11 kits there and saved over $450 compared to Calgary prices. Worth...

    Labels for my Wedding

Good luck with your wedding! This is just for fun, though....I made some wine for a friend's son for his wedding.

Other CC vs. RJS Sauvignon Blanc??

Well, I'm a RJS man...been making the CruSelect Kiwi SauvBlanc dozens of times. My wife loves it! In some cases, the 42-day process is completely done in, say, 27 days. Never had any SO2 problems...even when served at room temp. Replacing a litre or 3 of the Day 1 H2O with a clear apple-...

Bottling farts...how do I prevent it?

Another possible way to alleviate the problem is to use some copper to react w/the SO2. I keep about a yard or so of residential wiring...stripped off the insulation (& sterilized) and let it hang/swish in the carboy. You can also use it to stir in a freshly uncorked bottle. It's been years...

RJ Spagnols 1st Taste of Super Tuscan

This is an awesome kit! Currently doing my 3rd SuperTuscan this year. The first (bottled in Feb) already tastes great!

    Clearig Agents- Chotosan vs Sparkloid

You can also use Bentonite clay as a clearing agent. Just pick up an extra packet at your kit vendor.

How do you dispose of sediment?

Into the Garden or Down the Toilet. Oak chunks can be saved to use for BBQ smoker material...just haven't found a good food application yet.

Removing labels... 2 different kinds and how to tell the difference

When the going gets tough, use SOS pads.

    Buttery Chardonnay

One thing I did with a recent Chardonnay was this: I threw in about 2.5L of off the shelf juice from the grocery store... the product was from Sun-Rype and it was an Apple-Pear-Vanilla blend (a clear non-pulp juice). The result was delightful...the vanilla taste was amplified (my wife loves...

    Software

I've always used CorelDraw! to render my label ideas, then print on Avery address labels with inkjet.

    What a mess!

    Me, too. Agreed with above.

    RJ Spagnols Merlot sugar crystals

Giovannino, I get the same deal with my higher end kits, and I have not been cold stabilizing...just straight to bottle (via filter) around Day 60 to 90. I guess you could do as I do (if you do not want the diamonds or tannin sediments in your glass) and that is simply to carefully decant from...

Coming up with a unique name for your wine labels

These days I simply use a Sharpie Pen on the Corks, sorta like a cattle brand, and keep track in my cellar notes. When I made labels, I always tried to have fun. IE this was one for Rosso Grande

What are you making and what have you made ???

Here's what I picked up yesterday...vendor had no more WS CAB SAUV so she gave me an En Primeur for the same price! What have I done this year? These are ALL RJ SPAGNOLS kits: Jan - CS Aussie Chardonnay - Bottled Feb - CS New Zealand Sauv.Blanc - Bottled Feb - CS Valpolicella Ripassa -...

RJ Spagnols Still an Oak Monster

I have made several of these kits. None of them last more than 6 months in my cellar...to me they're mellow enough after 3 mos.

I 'Liked' on FB. I presume this contest is open to entrants outside of the USA?

Other Paklab 23L Onyx V Argentinian Malbec kit.

I made this kit about 6 mos ago. I found the results to be very 'thin'. A bit of aging has helped somewhat (I know 6 mos is not very long LOL). I'd say you need 'additives' during fermentation to make this stuff more drinkable.
