Wine loss... Are there any other methods to take up head space after racking in carboy other than marbles?? Sometimes by second or third racking you can not get any more wine outta the sediment. I have used clear marbles before but afraid of possibly chipping them.

Cider help.... I just bottled cider I made per recipe in the begining of this thread. I tasted it a few times now since and I can hardly drink it. It is not smooth at all. I did not back sweeten but I thought it would be at least decent enough to drink. I stabilized it and put 2 gallons in...

Bottling cider... Whats best bottles for cider? Wine bottles? Beer bottles? or something else? Are milk jugs ok to use??

LI Cool I was there for hurricane Irene working. I was in commack this year but was in Montauk and Islip twice last year. I seen all the vineyards and wineries out there and tore me up that I could not stop. Oh well I guess I'll have to come out for vacation next time

f pac... I simmered them down and strained juice out. I got about 3/4 of a glass. I added about just under 1/4 cup of sugar dissolved in water but couldnt add all of it because carboy was full. SG is just barely over 1

Peach... I just did an F-pac in my peach other day. My question is how much peach should I be able to taste in it? How strong should it be? I know its peach wine but should it be like 'peach koolaid' tasting or not? I hope I dont sound too dumb HA

peach SG My SG is 990 after 3 weeks in secondary. Should I check SG for another couple days or am I good to go adding F-pac? I do not have room to add anything right now probably until I rack off sediment again. There is about 1/2" of sediment now on bottom after second day of racking.

f pac... So itll be ok to re-open carboy and put in my sorbate now? I just racked it after 3 weeks of being in secondary. I just want to make sure before i do this. Thanks

Back in town... Just racked peach again...I plan on racking one or two more times before doing an F-pac. I plan on doing this after I rack the one or two more times and then racking again of course after the f-pac. After I do f-pac and what not and I backsweeten how much sugar should I use...
