    Stuck Muscadine

:u Yesterday I followed Julies instructions to the letter. Splash racked several times and step fed a new yeast starter. This took most of a day. This morning I was rewarded with some small activity. Took an SG check and found that the SG was now at 1.090. Down five points. :db:db:db Felt so...

    Stuck Muscadine

Thank you. Hoping the K-meta doesn't affect the final product. Yes. Thoughts?

    Stuck Muscadine

Thanks for showing up Julie. I think this is the second time you saved my butt. (hopefully) The only yeast I have on hand is Lalvin D-47. Hope this will work. Fortunately I invested in an "All In One" wine pump. Should make the job go easier.

    Stuck Muscadine

Prior recipe on this forum asked for one campden tab for each gallon. Evidently my guestimate for six gallons was too aggressive. Also advice for muscadines was not to leave the skins on for more than four days. I went Five. Have no way (or understanding) to test for SO2. So...Toss it?

    Stuck Muscadine

On 7/31 I finally got to crush my previously frozen 26 lbs of muscadines. Put into primary with 3 teaspoons of K-meta. Next day checked S.G. at 1.095 and stirred in 5 teaspoons of yeast nutrient. Hydrated a pack of Lalvin 71B-1122. Yeast hydrated well and was active when added to the must...

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Made the original recipe a few months ago. Surprising how fast this goes. My second batch will have 6 pounds of the berry mix into a 5 gallon carboy . Fifteen ounces of the Real Lemon instead of thirty. And back sweetened with a can or two of Welches concord concentrate. Thank you Dave for a...

    Lable Help

Appreciate your input. I spent most of a day trying to make something of this, using their enclosed template. I worked with Paint, Notepad, The Avery ap, and even downloaded an ap called Open Office. None of what I did was able to get a label pic to fit into those six template positions so that...

    Lable Help

Purchased a product called "Classic Studio Collection Labeling System" from my lbhs. The enclosed instructions (easy to follow) don't make a lot of sense to me. Starts out - (a) Using Frames: and goes on... I've never heard of "frames". Wondering if this from some sort of ap. Went to their...

    Muscadines and lots of them.

As the prior gentlemen state- freeze till your ready to process. Do a search for Muscadines in "the Grapes for Wine" section and you should come up with some helpful information. One of the things I found is that many recommend using ten pounds per gallon. Cheers, and welcome to the forum. Tony...

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Read through fifty some posts and figured I'd join the fun. Making the original recipe. Only changes are: 30 oz. of the Realemon (store only carries 15oz. containers) and everything going into a 5 gallon carboy. If needed I'll adjust later with acid blend. SG is 1.075 on the button. Thinking...

OK- Change in plan: Got a very good deal on ripe muscadines and I wound up with a bit over sixty pounds. Looks like I'll be doing a six gallon recipe. Couldn't find an untreated 4X4 at the local Lowes, so I'll wind up nailing two 2X4s together for my crusher. Going to need a presser. Don't want...

    PH meter

Greetings mgmarty. My Milwaukee MW102 arrived in the same condition a couple months ago. I simply wiped it down with a bit of distilled water as Mike suggests. If I leave it without any use for a week or two, it still weeps a bit and forms those crystals. I don't think there is any harm. Just...

I get some of my produce from a nearby farmers market. Don't think they have a press. New to the area so I don't know about clubs. Thanks. Thanks sour_grapes. I like to think of myself as frugal. :) Tony...

Hello FTC. Nice to hear from you.:b Yes, I was in Port Charlotte. Glad your move went well. Mine was a nightmare. I'll have to PM you. And thanks for all your help with the Peach. It turned out fine. Let me know how your wine press goes. That will be a winter project for me. Just getting my...

Its Muscadine season in the neighborhood and I'm thinking of making my first ever wine from grapes. Just to get my feet wet, I'm going to start small. My initial batch will be for three gallons. Problem: Got nothing to squeeze the grapes with, so I need a couple suggestions. 1. The simplest and...

    fermentation peach wine

Taste it Farmboy. It looks like it had enough time to go dry. Should taste a bit rough and alcoholic. If it does your probably good to go to the next step. :b

Welch's concord with the super-sugar method

BeginnerMark. Just follow the basic recipe for one gallon. Pretty much any basic recipe. You really can't get it wrong. I used Lalvin Ec1118 for my first gallon ever, and probably not enough concentrate. Still came out very good if a bit alcoholic. Next time I made it, I used RC212 and more...

    First (almost) Plum

Oh, it took off. Checked the sg this AM-1.000 on the button. Going to give the plum and raisin bags a good squeeze and remove. Then add a teaspoon of yeast energizer so that it can finish up. Thinking about using Bentonite as its really cloudy, but I understand that bentonite strips flavor...
