    f-pac flavor question

I made a 5 gallon batch of welches concord from frozen concentrate. I sweetened it with more concentrate to an sg of 1.005 because my wife likes it sweeter. It has been sitting for about 5 days since I sweetened it. I took a small sample and tasted it. It is not bad, but tastes more like grape...

I have made several batches of wine from concentrate with great results. This batch is a bit different, as was my technique. Other Vintners Harvest apricot transfer at 1.040?

A just removed the fruit strainer bag and transfered to my secondary at 1.040 as instructions indicate. It seems to be fermenting waaay to heavy to be in the secondary yet. It foamed up and blew a bit out the air lock... So I took out 1/2 a gallon to make a bit of room. It is bubbling one...

use for old bucket lid gaskets

Forgive me if this is already a known idea. I was about to throw away two old cracked primary lids when I noticed the rubber gasket in them. I pulled them out and hung them on the wall. I later found that they work great for holding a towel over my primary or to hold a straining cloth. I also...

Tool to cut holes in rubber stopper

Did some research on how to make holes in rubber stoppers.. Seems the idea is to SLICE a hole, not drill. I found out that labs use a "cork borer" to put holes in rubber stoppers as needed.. Here is the tool...

    sweetening sg?

What is a good sg to sweeten skeeter pee to. Is it similar to wine in sweetness and dryness? I am looking for a nice refreshing taste. Not too sweet, but not dry either. Maybe just add simple syrup untill I like it then take a reading?

    A proud day indeed..

I just bottled my first batch of "Welches concord wine" from frozen concentrate. Actually, my first wine ever. I had a bit of trouble with my Italian two handled corker. It left the corks about 1/4 inch sticking out. The jaws seened to slip off the raised end of the bottle. I started to panic...

Anyone use 5gal. water "artesian"bottles as secondary?

I found a local "artesian" water supply store that will sell me a full jug "5gal" for $3.00 plus a $7.00 deposit. Thay also have 3 gallon ones. Seems like $10.00 is a good deal for a 5gal. carboy. Do any of you use these? They look about the same as a "better bottle", which costs much more.
