    Totally stupid question....

I have a couple of these and LOVE them! Worth every penny.

    First Batch ever!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I always sanitize my hydrometer and cylinder and dump the sample back into the must. It looks like at about 1.010.

    First Batch ever!

I have learned that Winemaking is very forgiving. As long as you remember to sanitize, you have nothing to worry about. However, I remember being scared of ruining my first few batches as well. I'll be waiting to hear what the number is. :)

Noticed a fly in my cider!

I would try to get it out. Even if that means to Iraq to a clean bucket, clean and rack back.

    First Batch ever!

You can check the SG anytime you like. I just moved my Pinot Noir into Secondary. I was testing the SQ every couple of days.

    This!

    First Batch ever!

The packet of yeast that comes with the kits will be enough.

    First Batch ever!

I think it will be alright. During the primary fermentation, the main goal is to keep fruit flies, etc. out. I don't snap down the lid on my primary most of the time. Any signs of fermentation now? I've seen these, but have not tried one yet. You'll have to keep us posted on how it goes...

    Other Tweeking Cheap Kits

I'm still learning as well, but here are my thoughts. Wait until the SG stops dropping and is stable for 2 days. Around .996. Then rack to secondary. Here is what I would do: 1. Add Sulphite/Sorbate 2. Carefully Degass 3. Stir in Kieselsol, wait 24 hours 4. Stir in Chitosan 5. Stir in Oak...

Creating a Bourbon Barrel Cab Sav suggestions?

I've ordered a Cabernet Sauvignon Wine Kit (Master Vintner Winemaker's Reserve). Cyber Monday deal from Midwest Supplies. I'm wanting to make this as a Bourbon Barrel Cab Sav. I've seen a couple of ideas in the past but would like to see what you all have tried. I see that Labelpeelers has...

Guidance needed - A lot of Foam - New WE Classic Pinot Noir Kit

Everyone, THANK YOU so much for the replies! It was shocking the amount of foam compared to other wines I've made. I just had this fear I didn't do a good enough job rinsing out the OxyClean or something. I checked it after work yesterday and there is hardly any foam now! It smells good, and...

    Label Peelers News

I don't think anything has been announced yet. This was in a recent email I received: "We also have a big announcement coming for all you wine makers. We are helping bring new revolutionary wine kits to market that will set a new bar for wine kits. More information soon!"

Guidance needed - A lot of Foam - New WE Classic Pinot Noir Kit

This is the first new WE kit I've made and it has been a while since making a WE kit. However, there seems to be A LOT of foam. I'm on day 3 and there is a good 1/2" of foam on top of the must. I just don't ever remember having this much foam with a kit wine. See images below. I'm a little...

I'm about 6.5 hour drive from Fayetteville, AK. Won't be getting any grapes this year, though. However, thank you for the offer.

Ferrari Bottle Filler Questions - NEED HELP

@rustbucket I'm just glad I had all these issues with an inexpensive kit. However, I should have taken the time to run through the process with water. So that's on me. But I will say, the online videos made it look pretty simple, effortless, and clean... I'll be setting up a test run of the...

Ferrari Bottle Filler Questions - NEED HELP

I just ordered new tubing and a spring loaded bottling wand. Matt with Labelpeelers' helped me confirm my tubing was too big, causing some of my frustrations. Sounds like the new tubing and wand is the solution for now. I may own an AIO some day, but can't swing $250+ at the moment...
