    Flavoring Me Pee

I am made a reference to the Old Orchard juices. I meant their 100% Juice that is frozen: http://oldorchard.com/products/100-juice-12oz/ They only have the addition of absorbic acid and citric acid which will not affect fermentation. I have used the blueberry pomegranate, cherry...

    Flavoring Me Pee

I am by no means a "pee" expert. I have made about 5 batches however and I use the Old Orchard concentrates as a flavor additive. I have done the blueberry pomegranate, cherry, to name a few. I add a few extra cans when fermenting and then another as an f-pack when sweetening. I reduce the...

    Wine Filters

I would LOVE a set up like that...seems to complicated for little old me. People have said to use a used medical aspirator? Where would I go about finding one? I might have to invest in the other filter mentioned in the meantime.

    Wine Filters

Well I know that even commercial wines have some sediment. I just tell people to let it sit for awhile. I think from looking more into the vacuum pumps that the set up is way to technical for me....I like the idea of a package deal with easy user set up and use.

    Wine Filters

Okay thanks. I always let my wine clear however it seems no matter how long it sits before bottling or how clear it looks I get sediment. I had a recent batch of Skeeter Pee that had floaties and would settle. It was no biggie and still was a great drinker but looked a little off-putting...

Great stuff though mines been bottled a little under a month and is gone. Luckily I've started another one. Is it bad...

    Do you refrigerate your yeast?

I freeze my yeast...I thought it would be okay (using the logic that you can freeze bakers yeast). I currently having a wine fermenting away from yeast I have frozen so at least it worked for me. But this is also the instant yeast not sure if the same would apply to liquid.

    Mourn with me

I agree it was a fluke. I have 3 others in glass carboys and am not switching to plastic yet. Though plastic does have its advantages I think this was a isolated incident.

:b Now that is way worse...I better make sure my shelf is strong enough. Luckily you saved one.

    Mourn with me

I had it on a shelf...do you think that not having it on some type of rubber mat caused a crack? I have it on a wood shelf in my basement. If so I will move my others. The weird thing is I had racked and re-racked the wine several times in the same bottle as well as degassed. It was at the end...

    Mourn with me

Thanks all for your sympathy. I did grab the bottle by the base not the top. The only thing I can think is the carboy was old and maybe there was a crack in the base. When I picked it up the whole bottom just popped off so I think the weight of picking it up caused what was a small crack to...

    Mourn with me

Luckily I have 2 pear trees so there will be plenty next year I have one more aging at this moment. It is just hard especially with whole fruit the work that goes into it to have it all wasted...I guess its just added experience for a newbie
