Okay, it's been a while and a few questions

Hi everyone, it's been a busy year and I have managed to make 3 great batches of wine (rj kits). I made 2 pino gris kits and 1 cab rj spagnols kit. My questions are, now having a general knowledge about wine making is I want to take a step to fresh juice buckets from Corrados Lodi Gold brand...

RJ Spagnols Grand Cru Pinot Gris

Well, I bottled this kit last night. It was perfectly clear, and tasted AMAZING for such a young wine. My wife said it already tastes better than Cavit Pino Grigio! I guess there are good things to come. I will try to attach a pic of the finished product with my label! :b

First kit wine - fast fermentation

Wade, I'm I agree 100% with this. I imagine most people think that if the fermentation is very slow or taking longer than specified in the kit, they think something may have gone wrong. The instructions seem to have a "window" if fermentation time. It would be impossible to list in the...

RJ Spagnols Started new kit today

I just finished pitching the yeast on a RJ grand cru international cab sauv kit with grape skins. The must was right on the money and the grape skin pack smelled OUTSTANDING! If this finishes half as good as the aromas, must and grape skins, I think I'll be making more of this one! :r

    Wondering about aging

That; exactly what I bought Tom. I'm not sure if I would buy juice like that again especially after making (in progress) an Rj spagnols pino gris kit which looks amazing after only 10 day's. I'm sure that many people have good luck with the 6 gallon juice buckets though...:a1

    Wondering about aging

Thanks Wade, yes it was a juice bucket kit (about 44 bucks) so it was a "lower end kit" so to speak. I guess I'm on target then. Also, the RJ pino gris kit that I'm making seems right on the money. Well like I said, the merlo was my forst batch and I didn't want to spend too much money for the...

    Wondering about aging

And, just to clarify by body I mean the actual color of the wine. It does not taste bad at all and I'm sure that will improve my main concern is that I could have done something wrong. Like I said before, this is my first batch of wine so if it's not perfect, that's what practice is for. Thanks...

    Wondering about aging

Hi everyone, I have a question. My first batch of merlo is just about ready for bottling. It is completely de gassed and almost clear. My question is: the wine seems to have a "light body" to it. Will this improve during aging? It's way darker tan say a white zinfindel but not as dark as a...

RJ Spagnols Grand Cru Pinot Gris

Well I checked my sg this morning and it's at 1.099 already. I just pitched the yeast last Sat so in 6 day's I'm at secondary already? I want to follow this kit to the letter and the instructions do say approx 14 days. Is this possible to happen this fast or should I sit tight and leave it in...

    Questions about "young wine"

Ha! That's true, which is why I started a Grand Cru Pino gris the passed weekend! I figured, I'll make enough to keep me busy! :d

    Questions about "young wine"

That sounds right. I am just impatient! lol! Once I get my first batch aged, I'll be alright. Just a little impatient. I piched the yeast last sat on my 2nd kit as well. Rj grand cru pino gris. Can't wait, I'm addicted already! :h
