    pounds of grapes per gallon of wine?

    This will be my first time making wine from grapes and I would like to know what the standard is for how many pounds of grapes to a gallon of wine. I found a local vineyard that I believe sells minimum of 100# of chardonnay. I will be doing 5 gallon batches.

    thanks for the info, went with 3 cans pinot noir in 6 gallons. sugared to 1080, added nutrient and energyzer, and brought the acid up to .65 i'll report back with some results.

    It's plastic. Being plastic did concern me a little but it seems to be ok... no leakage. Definetly easier than bottling though.

    What are you making and what have you made ???

    My 6 gallon chocolate strawberry port is done fermenting. It's degassed and stabalized, secondary ingredients is in. Only time will tell if it's as good as Wades 3 gallon recipe, I still have 2 bottles for the comparison.
