I looked, the angle on the end posts is more like 15 or 20 degrees off of perpendicular

The number 1 rule I have learned from starting a vineyard!!!

I have never netted and the birds ate me out of house and home this year.... I wonder if that is why we all got BB guns back in the day?

The number 1 rule I have learned from starting a vineyard!!!

In the beginning I ordered Black Munnakas, Lamontoe’s, Flame and a Blueberry grape, 10 of each 3 year old plants. The only one that ever produced was the black munnkas! They are maintenance free and very prolific! The Lamontoe’s survived but never produced. Black cavities would develop on the...

The number 1 rule I have learned from starting a vineyard!!!

What does mildew look like? I just dug up some 5 year old Lamontoe’s because every year the shoots would start out nice and green and then they would develop black spots like a meth heads teeth!? I have ordered black Spanish to replace them with, I am 15 miles north of the Florida line!.

The number 1 rule I have learned from starting a vineyard!!!

Don’t and I mean DON’T skimp on your corner posts!!! Not unless you want to have to be redoing them a few years in the future! Pressure treated lumber for everything (duh)! For Short runs 4X4’s seem to be ok, I’m kind of wishing I had went with 6”or even 8” posts. Also on your end posts put them...

The best thing I’ve discovered about the 1 gallon jugs is that unlike my 3, 5 or 6.5 gallon carboys is that I don’t have to do something to all of it if I just want some to drink!

I have a 3 gallon carboy, my wife works at a restaurant and brought me home 3 one gallon jugs the other day. I am liking the one gallon jugs and looking forward to getting more if possible!

Good news everyone, I finally got a reliable taste tester today! I racked the gallon I had in a plastic jug into a glass one gallon jug. I used the mason jar to top it off with which didn’t take much so I asked my mother would she like to try my wine. She said she would so I gave her a 1/2 a...

Good day everyone, I racked my wine today out of the 7 gallon large mouth carboy and out of the 3 gallon small mouth carboy I was using for the excess. I racked into the 6.5 gallon small mouth glass carboy and I have 2 gallons in mason jars. My plan is to leave in the 6.5 gallon carboy for...

There is one thing for sure and that is I have learned what not to do! I would like to say “I’ll never make those mistakes again “ but knowing me like I do that probably wouldn’t be true! I can’t wait until this next crop comes in. I plan on buying a refractometer so I can monitor the sugar...

Thanks, yes I did install the airlocks. I will wait the 4 days before racking. Once it stops fermenting, the wine is basically finished? All the aging in the small mouth carboys is just letting the wine clear ( since I don’t plan on adding any oak)? I can leave it in the small mouth carboys for...

I have pressed the wine, my 7 gallon large mouth carboy is full and the 3 gallon small mouth is over half way full. I understand that the process is to leave the wine alone for a day or two to allow the gross lees to settle in the bottom? After that I rack into my small mouth carboys for long...
