    Retirement VS working

I agree the money has and will come from somewhere somehow. AZ tends to be lower in income, property and gas taxes but makes up for it in sales taxes. Generally around 10% once you combine state and county taxes. You can always shop around different counties or states for large purchases but not...

    The Bread Thread

My problem was sticking to the Dutch Oven. Do you coat it or use parchment paper or just a really big DO so the dough doesn't touch the sides?

Nope had bad luck with them. Also had overly cooked bottoms on a stone. I’m now using a sheet pan, cold with a 2nd a couple inches under it to help defuse the upward heat. I also cover with a stainless mixing bowl during the first 30 minutes.

    The Bread Thread

I'm happy overall with the texture and flavor my boules at this point but I've always wanted a taller version. I tend to end up with a slightly thiner dough which tends to flatten out and generally ends up between 2 and 3 inches tall after baking. I tried something new with this mornings batch...

    Electronics Rant

Starlink looks interesting, we received an ad from them the day we had Viasat installed. They're asking 99.00 to get on a waiting list - right. Equip is 500 and service is 99 a month. Supposedly Viasat is a few months away from launching Viasat3 which should increase speeds and I assume just...

    Electronics Rant

For the last month or so it seems our electronic services and devices have banded together and conspired to come up with interesting ways to add frustration to our lives. Our phones have started dropping calls, breaking up or just showing the message “call failed”. Verizon offered to sell us a...

    Cleaning enameled cast iron

I have three, different sizes and different brands. Largest is a LeCreuset (gift, I wouldn't/couldn't afford it) and a lodge and a cooks. All are stained similarly and I just accept that. As long as they're clean I'm content. They are work horses and I think they appreciate being treated that way!;)

    What's for Dinner?

Another thin crust sourdough pizza (kettle pizza) on a rainy, windy evening. One Sausage and Mushroom and one Pepperoni and Calimata olive. Leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Another attempt at the orion nebula with the sky tracker mount. A bigger learning curve than I expected and I'm pushing the limits on this shot but fun.

So I'm looking for a small level I can attach to one of my tripods and come across this one with a brilliantly worded description of the product. Not sure about this..

    What R you doing today?

Watch out, my Dad used to love to tell a story where mom wanted new drapes in their master bedroom. According to him once the drapes went up mom said now the walls look dingy. After having the entire house interior painted she said, now the carpet looks old and worn and the color doesn't really...

    Retirement VS working

I meant to mention that the sentiment being expressed here is a reflection of what many Americans are feeling in the wake of the pandemic. At least according to TV news and internet and we know they're always 100% accurate.

    Retirement VS working

@mbrssmd I like that thought. My wife took my watch from me years ago saying simply if you're in a situation where you need to know the time, it's available. There are clocks in your car, on your computer, on your stoves, night stand, radio, TV and outside many buildings.

I’m hoping for an early spring. My concern is snow, is that usually done by then?
