    Alcohol free wine

Due to health issues I can’t drink alcohol for another month or so. I bought a bottle of Ariel red wine alcohol free because I really miss my daily wine. It tastes like Welch’s grape juice without the sugar. Can’t wait till I’m given the ok to drink again.

    Basket press advice...

Maple would be best, however white oak with tung oil on it would be easy to clean as well.

    Lodi lab results

I think it’s more likely my refractometer and my skill in calibration is an issue, also I may have underestimated the amount of less ripe grapes vs ripe grapes in vineyard at harvest.

I added at crush and then on 10/16 I added what I thought was 50 ppm

    Lodi lab results

My starting Sg was 1.092 so I thought around 13%, my reading must have been wrong. Maybe I need to filter and let the must settle out before I measure?

    Lodi lab results

I sent a sample of this years wine to Lodi labs. They replied the same day they received the sample. I was surprised by the low alcohol level. For $40 it was a good deal. I don’t have to worry about lab equipment or chemicals expiring.

    What's in your glass tonight?

I’m drinking last years elderberry wine. It’s a blend of fresh and dried elderberries. It’s pretty good.

    Marquette tannins

Thanks everyone for replying I was thinking of planting some crimson pearl next year to blend with Marquette if I can find a sourc, that’s the long term plan, this year I’m going to try different tannins and barrel aging.

    Master Excel Winemaking Spreadsheet

Chapatalation? How much sugar to get to a desired SG, if you can pull all those formulas together please share them. There are plenty of websites that have those individual formulas but not in Excel

    Marquette tannins

Anybody growing Marquette grapes have any feedback on tannin levels in their wine? This year my wine did a fast ferment and I pressed on day 7. There was almost no tannin feel when I tasted it. If you have the same issue what do you do to add tannin.

Actually the staves are thoroughly coated with polyurethane, I don’t think there will be a problem for as little time the juice is in contact with the wood.

    Choosing 1 strain of MLB

I just racked my wine as mlf finished yesterday. It was somewhat smelly like Brett maybe. I pitched the mlb the day before I racked off the gross Lee’s. sitting on fine lees for five weeks without so2 I think is not such a good idea. Next year I’ll co inoculate and use vp41 which I believe can...
