    Can't get SG to .996 - at .998. Do I wait?

Guys, does it really matter? This is a very, very small difference, how are you even reading that detailed on the hydrometer?

This is great, I'm going to try this next, I have some apple juice finishing up now.

    What will happen?

Ok thanks guys. I recall exactly where it was but I found a video on a site showing how to make the kits. The guy said he prefered to only make 5 Gallons with a 6 gallon kit. That was why I was asking. I've been playing with 1 Gallon batches of apple juice and I'll probably try some concord...

That is great, I wonder it if really tastes like good wine though. I mean if you did it right that is.

    What will happen?

I'm really itching to try my first kit, the problem is I don't have all the equipment yet. I think I'm going to use my beer fermentor, I know it might give some flavor, and only make about 5.5g from the vinters reverve kit then rack to a 5G carboy which will hold 5.25G. Would this...

Rich, Could you please update us on how much foam you get, I'd love to try a reisling or gwerterber (spelling big time) in my 6.5G bucket but I'm not sure how well it will fit with foam. I'm thinking it won't work since your carboy is actually over 6.5. Todd

    concord wine

Ok, it said contains sulfites to ensure freshness I just assumed it was the bad guy. I'll give it a try here, I have some apple juice fermenting now.

Smure that does look good. Does anyone know how much fluid the 6 gallon carboy holds? My 5 gallon carboys actually hold about 5 gallons and 1.25 quarts. Is it the same with the 6 gallon?

I'm probably missing something here, I was checking out the grape juice and all of them contain sulfites, this prevents fermentation right?

    concord wine

My wife really likes concord wine, we have found a few local brands that taste very good, Nissley and Clover Hill, in PA. Does anyone know of a concord wine kit? I assume that grape juice in the store would not give me the desired effect? Todd

Ok thanks guys. It also sounds like I should be using a 8G bucket instead of the 6.5G my beer uses. I know I should not use the same equipment but for the first batch I probably will to save some expense.
