    Other Tweeking Cheap Kits

When you reduce the amount of wine, do you use marbles to take up the space? I know I have read people do that, but not sure.

    Other Tweeking Cheap Kits

Starting my fourth wine kit today, WineExpert Island Mist Black Cherry. It got mixed reviews on here, I am hoping with a few tweaks, I can make a good wine that is more than just a cooler style wine. Making a simple syrup now with 3 pounds of sugar, I am also going to add 34 ounces of 100%...

    WineXpert California Zinfandel

I wrapped a blanket around the carboy to get it a little warmer and hit an sg of .994 today.

I still have some bubbling in the air lock on day 17, about every 30 seconds. I was supposed to be able to stabilize and degas on day 14 if the stabilizing sg is <.996. I measured sg today and it is 1.00. Do you think it could be taking longer due to adding extra sugar or possibly the...

    WineXpert California Zinfandel

I did not start the kit yet, I used the target numbers for starting gravity and stabilizing. Starting is 1.070 - 1.097 and stabilizing is <0.996. This kit does not have skins. I would like to get 13% abv.

    WineXpert California Zinfandel

I just got my first red kit. The instructions aren’t really as clear as my last kit. On step 1 it says if your kit contains oak chips or granular oak, stir it in now. Oak cubes are added at a later stage. The kit has a packet of premium oak and another of toasted oak. Since neither of...

    How To Read Hydrometer

Thanks, first time I am making my own wine. I did a second rack today and the kit said it should be between 1.015 - 1.025 to bottle it. I am not sure if that will be accurate because I added half the f pack at the beginning to bump up the alcohol. I know I definitely need a longer siphon hose...

    Ocean Breezin Kit

Day 14, I can’t wait to go home and complete the next step in process. Is it at all possible to figure out the alcohol content if I didn’t take a SG reading on day 3 when I added juice and part of the pack?

    Ocean Breezin Kit

If I do another one, I will definitely add the sugar right from the start. I am looking at the WineExpert Zinfandel kit next.

    I need wine bottles!

I found this tip on on removing labels this morning and it worked great on 10 out of 12 bottles. Preheat oven 150 degrees, bake bottles for 10 minutes, then use a sharp knife to loosen the corners and it should pull right off.

    Ocean Breezin Kit

Thanks, I ended up putting a third of the f pack in with 100% grape juice. The airlock is bubbling fast so hopefully all is good.
