    Color

Bottled my apple-raspberry yesterday. Added ascorbic acid and it kept the color. (thanks Wade) Tasted GREAT!!! I will be making a 6 gallon batch of this as soon as my carboy is available.

How much would you recommend per gallon? Do you think it would help the wine last 6 months to a year. I will surely drink it before then.:h

    Color

I had the exact same thing happen to an apple-raspberry. Added one crushed campden and it stripped the dark red color right out of it. That was during primary, now i have backsweetened with more concentrate and have the color back. Im afraid if I add more campden i will lose the color again...

Leanne, now your talking my kind of language. I love veg. gardening. Have pretty good success here in Anchorage with Just about everything. I even grow sweet corn in my green house. Saw a recipe on Jack Keller for corn squeezins, may try that this year. Good luck with your garden

    Carboy Handles

Thanks everyone for the info, Went and bought straps today, what a difference in hauling a full carboy down the hallway. Before i got the straps i just new i was going to drop one. Those suckers are awkward and heavy.

Started this 3 days ago. smells great. I have the same problem when bottling, get a little sediment in last few bottles no matter how hard I try not to. I guess it will just take more practice.

can you lift full carboys with these handles. Or are they just to help when cleaning. they do get pretty slippery.
