Sorry Wiz, the Papaya batch I made was good but I don't like papaya so not a good judge! I know this much, use raisins, at least a pound ( I used 2) in a 5 gallon batch. That seems to get things right.....unless you have tannin and acid blend and and...
I am sorry I didn't see this thread ealier! Myakkagldwngr I like the way your wife thinks! Anyway you possibly in myakka florida and ride a gold wing? :)
Well sounds wonderful, th new dock is where you will be going but you cannot possibley do more than one choice of activity in the alloted time I don't think. I would take the east end tour in a "island Style boat" meaning most likely a dory which is one big mahogany log hollowed out and with an...
The biggest problem you will face is that out of all the places your going to visit your will wish you had more time here! If you dock in Coxen Hole, well that isn't the "real" Island but is the older city and government head of Roatan Municipal, which is the West half of the island. Santos...
Your a brave man if you do that! I have been looking at the presses on Ebay and I'll tell ya, if that one has no cracks in the press board or it works as advertised (which it should) you got one hell of a deal!
Looks like what they call here a "Hog Plum" but very similar and I imagine the same thing. I was going to try a wine just form these but the pit is so large it doesn't seem worth it!
I don't see any RIP in your signature woodsxdragon. Anyway, after backsweetening some mango wine i do sense a bit of a bread yeast but after it settled out again I find that taste is in the lees not in the actual wine. Would I use the lees in anythign else, no, simpy put why would I since bread...
I have the same issue or non issue as it may be. I have been fermenting from the 26th of last month and it is at 1.020 today, initial was 1.076. So in essence I guess this must be normal when starting from just yeast ( I re-hydrated mine with the Skeeter pee must and it was going ok when...
I have been wondering the very same thing gang, I did the same thing Runningwolf and had similar results improving taste. But after all it is Lon's recipe. I did modify mine to add the remaining juice (Lime in my case) at or near the end. This last batch I tried a gallon jug of Lime Juice and...
Yes, leaving the skin on seemd to increase the acid level just a tad and also gave an off taste that did not exist in the other batches. for future reference I am always going to peel the mango's reguardless of type. It isn't all that bad if you use the edge of the knife to catch under a corner...
On another note, you said you rack off the top of the tanks. So you only use the valve at the bottom of the conical to drain and clean after racking? I always thought as in brewing that you could crack the valve for a moment to eliminate the lees sitting on the bottom instead of re-racking again...

I agree with pwrose, seems the label is a bit off target for a pecan wine. But then again I am no expert at advertising....... Maybe a pecan tree in it's full summer glory with a glass full of pecans in the foeground. But then again you do need consistent recognition of your winery label...
