    What R you doing today?

Rich, a close friend of mine had three relapses, but now is clear of the cancer. Another had to go back for a second time. I don't say this to discourage you, but to tell you that no matter what- keep the faith. I cried with both and shared their dispair, but both of them are ok now.

    Grape Varieties For Northern VA

Looks like you have a plan and are on your way. Good Luck, I think you will get so much enjoyment out of this. My favorite way of unwinding at the end of a work day is to go out in the vineyard or down into the cellar and work at my hobby. I recommend part of your time be spent in taking very...

I think you will be happy with both of those. I sometimes blend some cab frac and cab sauv into my Norton and I've always been happy with the result.

Just be aware that if the fermentation stops, then you will have to warm it up to get it restarted.

    Grape Varieties For Northern VA

You really need to try some wine made from Chambourcin before you invest time in it. You will have to have a good spray program no matter what you grow.

    Grape Varieties For Northern VA

Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Norton. See Virginia Tech web site. You are one of the better eastern U.S. areas for noble wine grapes.

    Hi from Arkansas

Hi, welcome to the forum. As to cuttings - I would not recommend that you start that way. Cuttings will add a year or two to the time it takes to establish the vines and you are restricted in what you can grow as many grapes cannot be grown as own rooted vines or in the case of Norton...

    Texas Grape Growin

If they are tolerant, then you will see some leaves die and drop off, but the grapes will be ok for wine. Tolerant vines should survive, but the Sharpshooters will reinfect them every year. Vines that are not tolerant are eventually killed off.

    Texas Grape Growin

I recommend you look at your state agricultural site to see if they have a recommended spray plan for grapes. You will need a continuous spray of fungicides to control the mildews in a humid climate. If you don't find anything specific for Texas, here is a guide that might give you some ideas of...

    Trellising with Gripples

Don't be scared off by the cost of the gripple tool and gripples. Well worth the cost in time savings and I've actually reused gripples a second time when moving a trellis.

    Texas Grape Growin

What is your spray program? Sprays used and how often? That may give a clue as to what is causing the problem. Suspect it to be both Downy Mildew and Black Rot.
