    Cabernet Kit Received, now what??

I received my first kit in the UPS yesterday called the Selection Cabernet Sauvignon Wine Kit. My problem is, this is a birthday gift for my wife who's birthday is on Saturday. Will the kit be ok to sit in my garage (hidden) at about 80 deg. F for a few more days? Or is there precious cargo...

Hi Wade, a quick thought for your consideration on the brew pot: I searched craigslist in my area and found somebody who had a used 15.5 Gal keg that they wanted out of their house. I went and picked it up at no charge. I took it to my local high school metal shop and had the top cut off...

    Newbie here from San Diego

Nubz, I'll be here - lurking away :) I'll also be asking a few questions I'm sure from time to time. I've been to Long Island a couple of years back and had a really great time wine tasting there. They are producing some excellent wine.

Thanks Wade, I can get some oak chips fairly easily. I'll search around here and figure out the process but do you boil the chips or soak them in a solution prior? I am doing all-grain batches after a few months of doing extracts. I just bottled up a Cherry Blonde Ale that I think will turn...

Hello everyone! Newbie here from San Diego. I've been brewing beer for a couple of months now and decided to try my hand at winemaking. I enjoy a good glass of wine but my wife, she is the enthousiast. She has been my right hand through the beer making process, but really doesn't enjoy...

    my first big batch

Thanks Tom, I ordered the Selection Cabernet Sauvignon Wine Kit from the online store that I use for my beer supplies called Homebrewers Outpost. I don't know much about it, I'm sure that I should have done some more investigating before purchasing so I hope she likes it. My wife is a big wine...

    my first big batch

I've only used corn sugar for the apfelwein, but I have read that you can also use regular cane sugar or brown sugar. The cane sugar is apparently a bit tougher to disolve, so some people heat it mixed with water for a few minutes to disolve, then add to primary. I'm interested to hear how...

This sounds a bit like Edworts award winning Apfelwein. Do a google search for it, they won't let me post a link as I'm a newb here :) Try that someday, it's delicious!
