Reminds me of a Korean video where they grow table grapes and use a lot of woodchips. I'm planing to cover the rows between my vines this year because i think the microbial life is beneficial and in the great summer heat it might retain some moisture.

I would like to recommend this video series. It's long, it's slow but it kinda sinks in and gives a full picture.
Looks like a very nice patch and with a little renewal of the wines it will probably give you a bigger crop in a couple of years.

Elderflowers have been soaking for 4 days now with some lemon zest. Adding sugar and acid today, 1.085 and ph 3.4 is the target. Then let the yeast do their thing. :b
