    I'm throwing in the towel

Thanks everyone. Who knows what the future will hold? Guess we'll have to wait until we get there unless someone has a DeLorean perhaps? The 7.9 gallon primaries are both sold. I'm willing to entertain offers on the other stuff. Will be putting it all on Craig's List as soon as possible so no...

    I'm throwing in the towel

Yeah, still planning to fish. We have a deep 2.5 acre pond on the property. It holds some pretty big largemouth bass although I still have to learn to catch them. The kids have a ball at it. The 7 yr old does really well but his 5 yr old brother prefers to throw sticks in the water to attract...

    I'm throwing in the towel

Funny that a town in northwest PA should be called northeast. I guess everything is relative. :)

    I'm throwing in the towel

Hi everyone, I haven't been around the forum in some time for personal reasons and I've decided to call it quits on some hobbies. I have 3 young kids and no time or space for winemaking so the following is for sale: 1- 6.5 gallon carboy for $37 1- 5 gallon carboy for $28 2- 3 gallon carboys for...

    Lemoncello

I recently had the chance to visit Fiore Winery. They make a 33% abv lemoncello with a grappa base that is stellar. Next time I make it I am going to buy some grappa to start with. It'll be worth every penny.

    Maple Syrup wine

Dan, I actually meant to post this in the maple sap thread. Was reading them in tabs. :slp You should be able to sub maple syrup into any mead recipe but the amounts will be a little off. Maple syrup is supposed to be 66 or 67 percent sugar (depending on whether or not you're in vermont) and...

    Maple Syrup wine

2 weeks ago I took the family to a small maple syrup producer's promotional event. Took along a barrel to see if the owner could be persuaded to draw some off at 25% sugar or so. He said he could but wouldn't bother to as the maple flavor we are all familiar with isn't developed until the...

I wonder if Walker's could have recommend a mix...Oh well. I'm willing to give it a go with chamborcan and concord. Gotta get all my ducks in a row and then will post up some progress notes. Might be a while is all. -slow Mud

    Maple Syrup Wine

Not sure if my prior post sounded argumentative or rude but it wasn't supposed to. Sorry if so. If you meant that heat will help the maple syrup dissolve you're certainly right. I misunderstood what you meant by "convert". Real maple syrup is much less viscous than you might suppose if...

    Maple Syrup Wine

Not really, Mike. In order to make maple syrup the sap is reduced ~40:1 by boiling. Further heating shouldn't be required.

    Maple Syrup Wine

Sub maple syrup into a mead recipe and you should be fine. Might put a vanilla bean or 3 in there, too. It'll be tops. Google "maple mead" and you'll find some good stuff.

    Lucas Tug Boat Red?

Sure enough, Tom. Found it in NY. Can a store that stocks it ship directly to you? Some states allow alcohol to shipped in as long as their is an adult to sign for it. I'd be happy to arrange something if that would help.

    Lucas Tug Boat Red?

Finding this wine locally was not easy. (read: impossible) Then a new wine & liquor store opened near here and they stock it! So I have 2 bottles. There will be one in the mail Monday, Wade.
