My batch was started on about 1/11/2019 (spare pumpkins from Halloween lol) and bottled 4 days ago.
I like to bottle them pretty soon after they clear as I only have a few demijohns. It actually started clearing by itself quite quickly as well.
So of course when I tried it, it was at bottling...
I did not find mine had much of a pumpkin taste (so far anyway). It may reveal itself after a couple months conditioning.
Mine also had an eggy smell, however this disappeared after I added campden tablets. I read somewhere that happens but I can't remember why.
Wish I'd added more spices to...
Lol this is clearly an excellent idea, I'm going to have to try it. And ridiculously cheap - added bonus.
When you racked it, (there must've been a fair amount of sediment) what did you top up with? I'm always concerned if I use water it will dilute the flavour
Oh you’re on here!
Sorry I blagged your video lol, but it seemed entirely relevant.
I’d just like to say I watched your brewing videos on YouTube and I think they’re excellent lol. The banana wine recipe is great, I made some a few months ago.
Have you ever made hop wine?
Tomato passata wine recipe
He also has another video where he makes it with canned tomatoes.
Unfortunately he has not yet posted a results video, however in one of the videos he assures us that he has done it before and it's good lol
My dad made a wine once which my mum said after one glass instantly gave her a headache.
He also made an apple wine a while ago, I distinctly remember watching the X Files and after 2 glasses my fingertips went numb.
Fascinating stuff home brew lol
Lately when I've been topping up after racking I've started using clear apple juice. I think this adds a bit more than just topping up with sugar and water.
Seems to work with quite a lot of wines actually, I topped up cherry with apple and my banana wine with apple.
Maybe this would help...
Ah gotcha. I had no idea it was actually called that. I mean I get the whole specific gravity thing and the hydrometer (although I basically never use it).
