Raisins for body in fruit wine

So I ended up using a 2lb bag for a 10 gallon batch. I soaked them in really hot water for a couple of hours to soften them up, then squished them up really good with my hands (food processor would have been too much work). Threw the raisins plus juice into the primary (no preservatives). Add...

Raisins for body in fruit wine

Thanks for the quick replies! I've got a 2 pound bag of Sun Maid raisins from Sam's Club; the only ingredient is raisins. I'll use it for a 5-6 gallon batch. The sediment after racking from primary to secondary should also make an interesting starter for Skeeter Pee! I've made a few...

Raisins for body in fruit wine

I'm going to make a wine out of the Old Orchard Premium Pomegranate/Blueberry juice. My understanding is that fruit wines can be somewhat lacking in body, and that adding raisins can help with this. I've got a few questions about this: 1) Is there a general rule of thumb for raisin...

    crown caps

Do crown caps work on regular 750ml wine bottles? I like the idea of keeping some wine in beer bottles for sampling, and it would be really easy if I could also use them on the regular wine bottles.

    Milk wine / kefir?

That's why I'm asking.... :) Rhubarb wine doesn't sound like it should be good, but plenty of people seem to like it.

    Milk wine / kefir?

Anyone ever made this? I thought kefir was more of a beverage made from a very specific culture, but I came across a recipe that uses Champagne yeast. I also found a milk wine recipe that uses the Champagne yeast and Lactaid (to break the milk sugar down into fermentable sugars). :D Just...

    Hello from Cleveland!

Well I was reading about preserving, which led to pickling and fermenting, and fermenting leads to wines pretty fast! To try it out, I made a gallon of honey wine and threw some raspberries in it from the garden (now that I've read a little more I gather that makes it a melomel?) I also had a...
