    Allinone Wine Pump Cleaning

Thank you very much for the responses and the pm Steve. Sounds like no one really separates the hoses so I will not either. This forum is the best!! Jules

    Allinone Wine Pump Cleaning

Trying to find out how others are cleaning, specifically drying, their hose that has the vacuum release and the red and blue ends. Do you remove the hoses from the vacuum release? If you don't, how are you getting this to dry? Thank you! Jules

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Hi BKisel and thanks for your reply. I did stir quite vigorously with a drill, both directions. Not sure what sheet racking is? I used a siphon when I racked from the bucket to the carboy and then the carboy to the new carboy when I cleared and then sweetened later. I hadn't seen that vacu...

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Ok, I racked on the 9th of September and just took a small sample today. I added it to a shot glass and shook it up and it "puffed air". Should I just let it sit longer? I added all of the potassium additives and stirred well and it cleared up great. I guess maybe I just need more...

    Help - Racked Dragonblood

Thanks Bernard. Everything appears to be fine. I pitched the yeast on August 17th and have gone by DangerDaves instructions. I did degas with a drill. I have a silicone bung on it right now and it doesn't seem to be building any pressure. I also do not see any bubble in the wine. I am not...

    Help - Racked Dragonblood

Hi Arne. Thanks for replying. I did stabilize and everything looks great. I have no bubbles this morning. I went ahead and topped it off. I will wait a week and see if everything looks good to bottle. Just thought it tasted a bit "sparkly".:h Jules

    Help - Racked Dragonblood

I racked my Dragonblood off the lees tonight and sweetened with sugar. I stirred the heck out of it to mix the sugar in. My questions are: 1. Should I fill up the carboy with a white Riesling that I have on hand? 2. Should it still taste kind of sparkly? There were no bubbles at all prior...

    Backsweeten with Concentrate? Dragonblood

Thanks for the replies. I do like a sweeter wine. Maybe I will try just a bit of the concentrate in part of the batch. Jules

    Backsweeten with Concentrate? Dragonblood

Anyone backsweeten their Dragonblood with berry concentrate and sugar? I was thinking of warming them on the stove together, cooling that and then using it to backsweeten. I was thinking it might impart more berry flavor? Thanks, Jules

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Thanks Dave. I did rack to the carboy yesterday and I cannot believe how much has dropped to the bottom already. I actually thought it looked pretty clear going through the tubing. Funny how that works! Jules

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Thanks Dave for the encouraging words!! I am waiting now for the sg to stabilize for the 3 days. Down to .991. Question, when I transfer to the carboy should I put the brew belt on it? It is about 64 degrees inside my house right now. Thanks. Jules

A bit worried here. I checked today and here is what it looks like. I think I read somewhere that white film on top is not good??!! Jules

    Fishing?

Limited out on Coho salmon when we went out on Thursday. Two of us on the boat, 12 fish. Went out Sunday and only caught one. Nice big one though! Jules

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Huckleberry sounds awesome! I love huckleberries! Well, my SG was down to .994 tonight so I removed the fruit pack, did not stir and just replaced the lid lightly and covered with a towel. There were tiny bubbles rising to the top. Not a fizzy sound though like it had been. Tonight is...
