Hello all,
It's been a while since I have been on the forum. I have been making some fruit wines and ciders over the last few years but have the 'itch' to start making something a bit more refined. I was hoping to tackle some fresh grapes or perhaps some fresh juice this year. Whites only. I...
I have had a naked wines subscription for about a year or maybe more. We put money into our account every month and then every couple months order a case or more. We love it. Yes some wines are not fantastic but those are generally the wines under $10 which is to be expected. Some of the wines...
I guess I should clarify that I will be willing to drive about an hour to meet you so that pretty much limits it to someone between Austin and Dallas. I figured I would post on here first and see if someone wanted them, otherwise they will go up for sale on craigslist or in the garage sale In a...
I have two six gallon (23l) and one larger (6.5 or maybe 7 gal) carboys for sale. Clean and ready. I am moving and trying to get rid of a few things to save space on the moving truck. $20 each. I am in Temple TX and you would need to come pick up or depending how far I could perhaps meet you...
Have the bottles in the fridge for now. I might try and pop the corks and put in champagne bottles with beer caps. Wonder how much of the carbonation I would lose doing that but figure its worth a try.
I have not tested the pH or the TA. I did add a lot of water and sugar pre-ferment but did not add calcium carbonate to lower the acid. I have not added any sorbate or stabilizers yet. Just a guess but I think the pH is likely around 3.0 and the TA around 1.0+. I plan to add potassium...
I have a batch of 2013 wild red mustang grape wine in the carboy. Fermentation has finished and I have racked the wine once. Had quite a bit of wine diamonds at the first racking. The wine smells and tastes quite good but is high in acid. I purchased some potassium bicarbonate to add to the wine...
I made a dry Grenache raspberry rose. I sweetened a few bottles and set them upright on the shelf about a month ago. I found a cork on the floor of the winery/play room a couple days ago and figured my son had mixed it in with his Legos. Today is found a bottle missing a cork and a bit of wine...
Last year this was the first competition I ever entered. Time flies. Guess I need to see what's on the shelf that...
A) is competition worthy
B) is still on the shelf
Seems most of the good ones have a habit of disappearing but I will find a few bottles to send in. Best of luck to all. I...
I bottled the symphony a couple weeks ago. A bit young but tasty. Has good acidity and tropical aroma and flavor. Would make this again for sure. Temps will in the 80s and 90s here for another month so I will be downing a few more bottles while they are young. Won't be able to keep my hands off it.
I used to draw a lot as a kid. My degree had me taking a lot of art classes. I haven't done any "art" for fun in at least 10 years so it has been fun to get back into it a little. Need to paint more than just wine paintings but they are so much fun! Might end up with a house full of them if I am...
